I don't think it's random - it's what they consider big-ticket stuff.
I'm sure they get a lot more complaints about people trying to scam them for PS3's and iPods than packs of modeling clay.

I saw the Horn of Plenty was already hiding bidders and they were at 1.39 or something - so I don't think it is only big ticket items...but I do think it kicks in on the big ticket items after they reach a certain point...

The Horn of Plenty and Girdle of Hill Giant Strength that just went up for sale are very suspicious. They are the only two True Dungeon tokens the seller is selling, the Girdle of Hill Giant Strength Photo is copied from the other Girdle of Hill Giant Strength auction and he doesn't have a Horn of Plenty photo.

It certainly appears that the seller doesn't have the two tokens in his possession since he doesn't have photos of them. Since it is an established seller it seems unlikely that it is a fraud.

The Seller says that he bought a bunch of tokens at GENCON and got lucky and got the top two tokens. My guess - he just bought two Pick Your PURP packs and picked the Horn and Girdle and is listing them for sale before they arrive, and made up the story about lucking out and getting them at GENCON this year.

You should foil his schemes. Put up 18 auctions for girdles and horns and sink the price he'll get. Then just order enough $250 packs to cover the auctions.

It would have worked if it wasn't for that meddling Henwy! =)

Could it be the seller is simply lazy and didn't want to go to the trouble of taking the protograph?

Wow...and odd.

The same group of people have up on ebay:
2 girdles
1 horn
1 gloves of dex
1 +2 Keen Scimitar

Must have been some exeptional pulls, finds, trades, or just doesn't want the URs paid for in the 25pks.

It's too bad that more people don't check these forums... then they'd know they could just get the purps directly from Jeff plus all the other gear you need, too. (Unless they just don't want all the other tokens.) But why wouldn't you?

Well, maybe they otherwise have all the tokens they want and just don't want to get bogged down with a ton of gear they couldn't be bothered to sell.

Maybe but even if you just kept the 30 Rares and the UR and threw the rest away, it would still be worth it to get the $250 pack. :|

I am going to be interested to see if the price hold up for girdles.

I expect that each one sold for cash will sell for a bit lower. Since the last one sold for $204.00 I will guess $190 for current one.

But that will make denise_books cry because her Buy It Now is at $199. =)

Do you remember how she said she doesn't know about this stuff - she's just a mom... and now on her auctions, she states that she has 1000 tokens to choose from? And she has a small lot of commons & uncommons with a BIN of $38. ?!?! Odd.
