TOPIC: Golden Tickets...your thoughts?

I agree with those who are saying that no more Golden Tickets should be produced.  The Golden Ticket idea is an excellent idea and as you admitted, it helped with early token sales a lot.  However, increasing the number of Golden Tickets will be a bit of kick in the stomach for all those people who spent large sums the first time around, missed out, and will not be able to afford much the second time around.<br /><br />That said, I do agree that a "Silver Ticket" type run would be good.  IMHO, they should NOT be for the run immediately following the Golden Ticket run since that would screw anyone who had both tickets(Unlikely but possible).  Having it as the final run on Saturday is a good idea.  If you set it as the final run through on Saturday, you won't have to change the schedule you sent in to GenCon.  You just need to delay the breakdown by the few minutes it'll take to add on the last unscheduled run.<br /><br />As for rarity.  Well, the best way to do that is to tout the Silver Ticket as a free run, which it is, plus some minor goodies.  This as opposed to the Golden Ticket run which is a free run, first look, plus better goodies(at least, I hope).  People will still want the Golden Ticket over the Silver, but either will be really cool to have.

Darnit, Jeff... after you put it that way, I DO want a Golden Ticket (or a Silver Ticket) for myself.  =|<br />So now I need to get 3 of them... One for me, one for Marc, and one for Henwy.<br /><br />I think the idea sounds great - go for it. 

The only thing I'm kinda blah about is the fact that I've already, pardon the expression, blown my load as far as spending on tokens is concerned. I'm over-tapped if anything. It really would have been nice if all of this had been pre-planned so we all could have spent accordingly. My last order hasn't even arrived yet, and if I knew about this silver ticket offer, I wouldn't have placed it now. I would have waited until I had a better chance for silver.

Ok.  That all sounds good to me.  I still think it should be for the final run on Saturday night, but if you can squeeze it in on Thursday evening without problems, that works too.  I've not blown my wad yet, so I'll probably make a purchase to try and get one or more as well.  You've also got me wondering just how cool this Golden Ticket of mine is.  I was under the impression that it was just a first look, free run, kind of thing which is cool enough for me.  The fact that we're getting more is making me glad I've not considered selling it for less than $10,000(half of which would go towards more tokens).

<br /><br />This is a valid point.  Unfortunately, I really, really suck at forecasting ANYTHING when it comes to tokens.  George will tell ya that!  I seem to always underestimate things.<br /><br />I guess there is no easy way to add a special cool token to the second run, but I hope that the positive effects outweigh the negative effects.

<br /><br />I like everything about it - except for the doubling the chance of getting a Silver Ticket compared to the odds of a Golden Ticket.  There are a bunch of people that already spent all their money, or most of it, trying to get a Golden Ticket.  They will likely be pretty unhappy to know that if they had waited, they'd have had twice as good of a chance of getting a special ticket.  <br /><br />So - if you make the one change of keeping the rarity the same for a Silver Ticket as it was for a Golden Ticket by doing 8 Silver Tickets over the 1/2 order, I think it's great!  Given all the incentives you have listed, I don't think you need to double the quantity to incentivize people to buy tokens, I think people will be buying a LOT of tokens to get one of those 8 Silver Tickets.  <br /><br />If you make the rarity of the Silver Tickets the same as the rarity of the Golden Tickets, then there isn't really anything for people that bought tokens earlier to complain about, because they had the same chance of getting a special ticket token when they bought tokens, and those tokens were even better than the ones available now.  And people buying tokens now are getting a shot at a special token with tremendous perks, when there weren't going to be any special tokens in the 2nd run.  Win-Win.  <br /><br />And - if the Golden Ticket is even better than that - I can't wait!!   =)

Good point.  I figure the best way is to just find the times that will work with the least amount of stress on the volunteers and I thought Saturday night might be good for that.  Stressing the ticket holders isn't a problem for me(even though I'm one of them).  Stressing the workers is.  I'd much rather be a stressed ticket holder having fun in the dungeon with the volunteers not being overly stressed about the run.

I like the silver ticket idea. I think it should be run on Saturday night though. That way you are not taking away from the normal runs. One more run on Sat. is not a big deal.

<br /><br />Being tired on Saturday should not be a problem since we are only working 1 shift that day. I never felt hurried last year with the tear down going on.

Just a side question, but I'm curious about the signed module that comes with the $1k purchase... does that have to be one large order, or does it apply if the orders are cumulative?<br /><br />If there's a 'Silver Ticket' offer, then it might just push me over that limit.
