I too had the worst experience ever. Dropped during checkout, time-out pages, and the worst: "Friday night only sold out". Are you kidding me? Did get a room somewhere around Dayton Ohio. (just kidding, but it is FAR away). Ugh

this could have a negative effect on those who want to volunteer part-time. can't get a hotel...can't volunteer...don't go.

Of course why should passkey care? all rooms sold out.

I wonder how much higher attendance will be this year than last. The hotels sold out much faster than last year. At least last year the hotels like J.W. Marriott lasted a little while, this year everything sold out.

I also agree about the "Friday Night sold out" syndrome. I don't recall seeing that happen before.

All this makes me very glad I'm using the volunteer booking pool.

Can't say I'm surprised about the spike in attendence it is d&d's 40th. Still makes a body a little jumpy about getting runs.

Just booked a room at the Baymont for $67. That's less than the price the housing block had for them.

had a horrible experience trying to book a double/double this year... multiple crashes. the system wasn't even working when it was supposed to. lost two days of a room, and had to end up going on the wait list. at least i was able to book the final Sunday night into Monday for those that fly out on the last day. ohh joy, not to get the rest of the weekend booked. i wholeheartedly agree they need a better system, or at least show a bit of priority to 4 day holders.

I had an easier time last year when I was booking from Afghanistan than I did this year from suburban Virginia. That seems messed up.

Fortunately, I did get a room for the whole convention at the Hilton. It may not be connected, but the rate was better that way, and I can afford to walk a couple blocks each way.

Wow, I guess I got super lucky with an easy reservation at the Embassy. In and out in under 8 minutes. I thought my buddy just got super unlucky with not being able to get jack through housing, but obviously it was a big issue.

After reading for forums I am glad I am ViG, hell signing up for rooms seems like a nightmare if you have to do it during the normal block. And going off a previous statement I am going to just will my ViG ticket's down to my kids like season tickets for football.

Don't forget to use the Waiting List for rooms if you didn't get want you wanted, or didn't get one at all.
