Any improvements for Adventurer's Guild in 2015? 9 years 8 months ago #1

This was my first year with Adventurer's Guild, and although the bag check was really nice and I used it regularly, it sounds like in past years there were more benefits. I'm wondering if anything might be coming up for 2015?

At the very least I'd like to see some runs and/or TrueGrind events reserved for Adventurers Guild members perhaps?

No additional benefits last year except some seating that was reserved for AG members and not used as far as I remember. And that was the first year of AG (unless I am off a year). There are grinds for AG members at WYC or there was still year.

WYC had both Grind events and a Mini-Dungeon free for AG members.

This year there was a mini-quest at GenCon for the AG folks (where the prize was a badge holder.)

I don't mind the idea of events especially for AG members, but please be aware that there's many AG memberships every year. I don't know how many, but my bet is more than 50, less than 100. (I may be wrong about the "less than 100")

If you translate that into 10-player parties, that means more than 5 full Dungeon runs, or Grind runs. That's more than the number of Golden Ticket runs.. and it's already hard to make the GT runs fit in, with TD's busy schedule.

While it would be cool to run AG events at GenCon, it would put significant pressure on the system.. and a lot of people would complain that it didn't fit into their GenCon schedule anyways.

Maybe some day it'll work. I think it'd be cool! But I'm not expecting it soon - unless it's at WYC.

Who's Yer Con was awesome! Everyone ought to try and go to it if they can, AG member or not! It was like a mini-GenCon. :)

But on the lines of AG member perks at GenCon... Keeping the bag check is a must! I agree with Raven that anything greater might be problematic. But doing the mini-quest again next year, or something along those lines would be neat.

Earlier this year we ended up running 6 Grinds at Who's Yer Con. 4 on Saturday, 2 on Sunday. It ended up catering to 56 people (though I know of at least one instance where someone was sneaky and played twice!).

And mind you, that's only the AG members who were able to attend Who's Yer Con.

How does the Adventurer's Guild even work, if I might ask?

If you guys do True Grind at WYC in 2015 I will certainly fly out for it! But I haven't heard anything official yet.

Does an AG pin only count for the year it was printed in, or are they a permanent membership?

Year it was printed in.

For every $2000 you spend on tokens in a given year you receive one button that reads "Adventurer's Guild 2014 Member," or whatever year it is. Sometimes you can buy the badges on the secondhand market too. I've seen them go for $20-$50.

Worth mentioning last year possession of the badge wasn't sufficient to get a spot in one of the WYC runs. Those were linked to the original buyers. Jeff had mentioned the possibility of numbered AG badges this year allowing that to change, but nothing definitive yet.

WYC has a bit of a problem when it comes to True Dungeon and events like that WhosYerCon is a free convention. You don't need to pay anything to attend or play any of the games. It is entirely supported by donations and vendor fees.

That being said, True Dungeon was not able to charge anything for the Grind or Mini Dungeon. TD was able to sell tokens and LOTS of tokens were sold at WYC.

Going forward I am not sure how True Dungeon will handle events at WYC. It is great promotion for True Dungeon but it does have its limitations. Some people said that the way things were done felt exclusionary. TD had to get some kind of compensation for the events at WYC so they were limited to AG members and their friends.
