TOPIC: Is it too late to get a ticket?

Is it too late to get a ticket? 9 years 5 months ago #1

In a traditional yearly fashion I've JUST been given the go ahead to go to gencon. So I'm looking to buy a ticket preferable for a puzzle run. Does anyone have an extra they would be interested in selling?

Even if you can't secure a for-sure spot via this forum, fear not. If you put your name on the waiting list at TD during Gen Con, and you're reasonably flexible, you stand an excellent chance of getting on a run.

The first three years I played TD, I never had a pre-purchased ticket and I went on several runs per day.

How does that work? I just got there first thing thursday, put my name on a list and they give my cell a call if they get an opening? Then I sprint to the event?

No, I think you have to hang around very close, however with about 40 slots every 12 minutes I think you have a good chance of getting a spot quickly. Especially consider trying it at 9AM on Fri/Sat/Sun morning, lots of gamers don't make it out of bed so well :)

I'll second this.

A lot of the available slots happen quite early in the morning, and I've seen situations where there's more space available than there are people in the waitlist queue.

And if you want an afternoon on a Saturday slot then you could be waiting an hour or two. There are also a number of people on the forum that have extra tickets/slots they are trying to get filled.

Oh! Hey Raven! You likely do not remember me, but I bought a ticket from you...years ago and we had an excellent lords and ladies run.

I've been trying to explore the "need people" threads. Not having much luck.

A single person should be easily able to get into a run within an hour or so of waiting at the most. Even though I do full run buyouts, every time I've wanted to add an extra run by myself, I've NEVER had to wait longer than that. And puzzle is less sought-after than combat, so you're going to be even better off.

As we get closer to GenCon, people's plans change, some people can't make it, Some are holding on to a tickets incase a friend wants to join but that doesn't pan-out.

If you're not picky you should be able to secure a ticket before GenCon.

Just watch what pops up in the Recent Topics list.

The wait list is doable.
Waiting is not bad now that you can play a decent game on your phone while you wait. It is best to stick around. If your up to spending a little money, I'd suggest the best way to get amped for your run while you wait, is to buy a couple token pack from the TD store. See what you get, and make some trades with the token venders for gear that's usable by any/most classes.

That I do not find to be true. If you look at how tickets sold out. Puzzle sold out before combat. Combat is more popular with those of us with tokens or lots of tokens. But those that care less about the tokens (the vast majority of players) like puzzle more.
