TOPIC: For Sale Slotless -5 for cog and Supreme Ring

Re: For Sale Slotless -5 for cog and Supreme Ring 8 years 7 months ago #25

Yes it was a "boffer larp" Axe. Not entirely meant to be thrown but they look neat all the same. At the distance you were at, you'd need a really good arm to get it back in the 'kill zone' but if you could pull it off, the weight of the axe and potential spin could easily have knocked several down.

I don't think very many if any realized there were other weapons, but they were certainly present and got used toward the end.

The closest flag should have been easy for anyone to pick off with any of the weapons, with only maybe some minor risk. However I think it was the least valuable of the entire lot so no one really wanted it. I believe it was gotten by accident.

Same here. Didn't mind because I got a Charm of Avarice and sold it to Henry! Got zip on my send shot though.
You can't fix stupid but you can TPK it.

I would love a chance to get a permanent effect/bonus/curse, as in the cogs of from the Deck of Many Things. That would totally be my preference.

That might have been me. My first shot was golden with the +5 Deathcleaver. On my second shot I was trying to do a repeat. I must have spent a minute trying to get that arrow balanced properly and when I pulled back 1 or 2 of my fingers must have moved just enough that I loosed the arrow by mistake. Instead of a 2-peat I got the Tome UR.

It was funny because a lot of people cheered. As soon as it got quiet I said out loud... "That wasn't a hit, that's called a misfire." I got a couple giggles... which is better than none.
"It's treason then."

What was in the deck of many things? Before my time. Did you actually draw cards with special powers from a deck?

I suck at those kind of archery games, so nothing at the end for me, there's a reason I'm not a rouge or ranger :)

Wish I'd noticed the axe option.

it was still cool to try

That was during my time, but I was not on that run. People could choose to draw or not - some cards were curses, some were powerful bonuses. I am sure forumites who were there would be able to give some examples.

I wonder if Jeff puts any particular thought into the bonus room, like "Last year everyone got something (for good or bad), this year I'll do a challenge. Next year it'll be a random draw again..."

From my memory, though, it seems pretty random. I'd guess it's whatever cool idea he comes up with at the time.

There were cards, yes, but not like regular playing cards - they were extra large, thick plastic cards, with fancy designs on the back, and they were all laid face-down on a table. (Edited to add: I keep my card in my trading binder, so if you want to see one, ask me sometime while I'm sitting at a table doing trades.)

Jeff had a large sign made up which gave a list of the possible effects. Several people looked at the list, saw the curses available, and decided not to draw. Others waited to see what people before them drew, before they made their decision (Yes!! The "XP is Reduced to Zero" card was drawn - It's now safe for me to pick!")

Other cards included:
Gain a +3 Weapon
You may only use URs in your build
+500 XP (Capped at Max XP) - sadly, drawn by someone who already had max XP!
You may not play X classes, but any other class you play is +1 level.
+2 HP
No Treasure awarded this year
Extra Treasure (I think that this card gave you a Horn of Plenty token.)
+3 Saves

One of the cards could cancel the curse from another card. I remember when that one was drawn, there were a couple people quite eager to cut a deal.

PS, EN: Get any good offers for the Supreme Ring yet?

That sounds wicked cool. Can't wait to hear what Jeff cooks up next year.

Thanks for the info on the Deck Raven. Definitely want to see your Card next year at Gen Con. Can I ask what Card you received??

Does this prevent that player from using Relics/Legendaries/Artifacts? :P
