Lots of people don't want help of any sort in all sorts of games.

Some of this is likely fueled by new players feeling overwhelmed. If you aren't familiar with D&D/RPGs, walking into TD can feel like drinking from a firehose. You're having a hard enough time picking a class, understanding the tokens you got, worried about what's going to happen in the rest of the dungeon, and then all of a sudden there's a friendly-seeming but perhaps also aggressive person telling you all this OTHER stuff.

It can be a lot. If you add in someone saying "I can fill some of your slots with tokens that will give you more treasure but you have to give me some of that treasure," and you don't even know what you're giving up, that could feel really bad. (A new player doesn't know that they don't have anything in their 10-pack that isn't worth tossing out for more treasure.) Also, a new player probably doesn't want to die, so being pushed into a higher difficulty isn't going to feel good either. I know and you know that if the Cleric and/or Druid is loaded death isn't likely, but the new player doesn't.

One thing that seems to help quite a bit is saying, "If you want, I can loan you tokens that will give 17 extra HP." That's straightforward. Only thing to do is add 17 to your previous HP. Nothing else to remember. A 4th level Wizard is going to hear that and think, "I can double my starting HP? It doesn't cost me anything? Yes please." Unless, of course, it's a player of the type Ian mentioned who wants to figure things out/do it on their own and not take help.

The “while supplies last” part is a bit tricky - as you could count on getting a GT through your auction, but fail to do so because they get “sold out” by the time you place your order.

I'd have to think that the Golden Ticket supply is pretty substantial for this strategy to work. I'd also hope and expect that Jeff would make an announcement when they are almost gone, as he usually does.

"Keep in mind there are only 120 Golden Tickets available. As soon as that quota is reached, Golden Tickets will no longer be included in any size order. This will probably happen without notice. Please keep this in mind when placing your order, especially if you place your order late in the season."

I wonder how $960K worth of token orders compares with this year's token sales. It's pretty amazing that annual token sales could approach or exceed $1M.

Assuming everyone who gets a Patron code does a patron run (which may be off a little, but should be close), there are 85 patrons or 85 8K orders this year. Last year, we had 108 patrons sign up for Patron Run#2.

What we don't know is the accumulated total of orders that are less than 8K, but I guess we'll get a feel for that next year based on the how quickly the GTs go out. I wouldn't expect them to run out of GTs during preorder or the first quarter of 2025. Who knows after that. If they do sell out faster, I guess that's a good problem to have.

I would assume that an 8k order doesn't also have the .01% per pack chance of getting a GT or else their odds would be pretty decent of getting 2 GT in 960 packs (while supplies last). 1 from the 8k order and 1 from the odds.

Correct. The Golden Ticket section of the 2025 Token Collection page specifies that's the case.
(That link takes you directly to the GT section so you don't have to scroll for days. 😉)

Can there be an option for TD to just keep the GT and register it to our account for us so we don't have to mail it back?

(I expect to get "dream crushed" on this one, but worth a try...)
