TOPIC: Awesome Job Making Situational Tokens Relevant

Awesome Job Making Situational Tokens Relevant 7 years 8 months ago #1

I wanted to recognize and appreciate how this year the dungeon design was done to make some of the conditional tokens relevant:

1. Ice Runstone (and maybe the common one) negated melee penalties against the Lava Elemental and Mr. Wiggles (not sure what to call the end boss of IDD).

2. In general, there was a lot of resistible damage in both TD and Grind (cold, fire).

3. I heard scroll frost storm could be used to block the Lava Lurker?

I'm sure I missed some tricks, but it was nice that these things were useful.

We had two party members in one run use Ice runstones from their starter 10 packs, and they were laughing when our NM Monk and Ranger were taking 24 a turn of heat damage from the Lava Lurker (because they were too good for Ice Runestone ;) ).

I had a lot of new players in both my runs. Ability to walk on lava came up. A couple also had gloves that negated weapons heating up which also helped.

Very much appreciated having situational tokens found in packs or from past more relevant. Especially felt good with newish players who before ignored that stuff as 'they never used it in past'. Hope this trend continues.
We're all the kind of people who enjoy the game on a "meta" level. We like talking about the game year-round. We buy tokens. We enjoy crafting. We get together during the off-season if we can. We are a very skewed demographic that way. -Raven

*She* had eggs. Her nickname was Patricia.

Cheech and Chong were the Stone(d) Men. This was written on the marionette bases behind the scenes.

Betty and Eileen were the beholders.

This is what I saw or was told by the True Adventures crew during build.

Bracers of Elementalbane for me.

After my first run through Deeperdark I made sure to equip those suckers - and luck and or skill were on my side for the other two runs I did on that side - consistently landing critical hits and sneak attacks on the Lava Worm and the stone(d) golems.

One round I did 68 damage. As a Rogue!

In the coaching room I was very strongly reminding new players to remember that they had turned in their runestones, had gloves on, and anything to avoid ray attacks (phrased as carefully as possible so as not to spoil anything).

I wholeheartedly agree, great situational tokens.

Did anyone find a use for the Potion: Enhance Disguise? Or was this just a filler token?

AH! Alas, I had to back out of my grind run at the last minute. Heard it was yet another great one though!

Room 1 in Grind had a mob of human cultists who could be infiltrated.
