Going with a pyramid or cone (see next comment) it will be much harder. I am going to suggest some common tokens that can be used.

The way the sliders are right now, I think there's room to put numbers right on the white circle, if needed. (That might change if the slider is made smaller) Might be a little confusing for DMs, though, since those numbers don't get covered up when you put a token in the slider... but I bet it wouldn't take long for DMs to get used to.

Definitely can get numbers but they might be too small to get colored (will have to experiment) and if they are too small it would be hard to read. Maybe just 1-4 dots would be easier.

Actually small dots (like on dice) might work better, because the default is for the DM to look at the numbers on the token, so they'd gloss right over the dots most of the time - unless there's no chip in the slider, then the dots would be relevant.

Really enjoyed trying these out in True Grind. I like the way they felt on board and the fact that they were quicker. Our group was a able to do some bumping to success. Only downside at all was a couple of time a slider bounced up onto it's side.

Overall, 2 thumbs up from me and the others my group all liked them as well.

Just wanted to give everyone a quick message on the Prototype Magnetic Sliders.

There will be two sets available for testing in The Grind at Game Hole Con along with the traditional sliders. The prototype sliders will be regulation size and have purple rings (to set them apart).

We will also be requesting anyone that tries them to complete a survey so we can gain valuable feedback on them.

To answer a couple of questions that have come up previously:
  • Sorry, no the sliders are not planned to be available for purchase.
  • Each class will have a different colored ring for the production set. Colors have been given to Jeff for comment.
  • No current plans on glow in the dark writing or slider but a prototype will be reviewed.
  • Monk damage dial will be incorporated in the final set (not for GHC).

Thanks for the valuable feedback that has already been provided. The suggestion to make the internal a structure a cone rather than a ramp has been implemented!

I am hoping that the sliders don't vary in weight. If they vary in weight from a Wizard to Barbarian fine, but a barbarian puck in one room should weigh the same in the next room.

They do not vary in weight at all.

Overall, a little tricky to pop them out, but overall I was a big fan. Also was handy to slip them onto my magnetic bracer when I wanted my hands free in grind.
