TOPIC: VTD events

VTD events 3 years 9 months ago #1

I probably missed it, and then please point me to the original thread.

I saw mentioned 5 VTD events.
What are their schedules, when will they run?
I saw somewhere over GenCon weekend, and the maybe PAX West weekend and then GHC weekend?

More often?
Less?

Will they be run multiple times, or one unique per session?

I wonder because I know I will likely be out of town GC and maybe PAX West weekends (since everything in the world always occurs on the same two or three weekends each year), and didn't know if I would miss out, or could catch up, or exactly how this will progress.

I am very excited for it, it may be the coolest thing ever, just totally confused right now.

The current precedent is 1 adventure per weekend. I believe that the plan on the PaxW weekend was more V1 if the first weekend is sold out/super successful.

The two announced so far are:
V1 - July 31 - August 2, 2020
V2 - November 6 - November 8, 2020

The other 3 do not have dates yet.

My completely unofficial, speculative, and uninformed guess is that the three unannounced dates will coincide with the normal dates of conventions that may or may not happen next year. With current trends I have my doubts about Pax South happening.
D&D teaches all the important lessons in life - the low blow, the cheap shot, the back stab, the double cross. - Jerry Marsischky

Let them trap us. We have our swords. - Elric of Melnibone.

You try to get them to play the game, but all they want to do is play the rules. - Ardak Kumerian

I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for his glory. I love only that which they defend - Faramir

Tickets for V1 (GenCon weekend) and V2 (GHC weekend) are currently on sale at td.events. Play will be via Zoom. If you have an internet connection, you should be able to play from wherever you are.
Loot will be mailed after the runs. Some folks are organizing runs on the forums, like they would for an in-person event.

I think the plan is for the 5 before GC 2021. truedungeon.com/upcoming-events
The most exciting part? This adventure is the first of five virtual adventures we will host over the coming year. All five form an exciting story-arc that ties into (and fleshes out) the live adventures that will be coming to Gen Con next year.

I am really excited for this. I think I can get a headset for my Macmini and then be good to go (I am a scientist, not an IT guy) so really want to jump in. I just got to make some techno-hoops first. This could be such a cool, semi permanent tie in to the Con stories.
I just saw how fast new threads exploded with posts, and got really confused as to where I saw what and when or where.
Thanks for all the help!

When the call went out for volunteers it was said they needed to be available for the virtual Pax South weekend (aka Labor Day) as well. As of today 90% of V1 tickets are sold.
