TOPIC: Ring of thrashing

Ring of thrashing 7 months 5 days ago #1

Maybe this was answered in a post I missed, but,, why can't Dwarf fighters use this ring??? Just about every other token I know of that is usable by a fighter can be used by a dwarf. What makes this low powered uncommon token different?

Dwarf fighter got bead of the cleaver instead. Each class has been getting uncommons specific to their class recently. In this case, ring for fighter, bead for DF.

I would assume that since the Fighter gets the Ring of Thrashing that the Dwarf Fighter can't use, the Dwarf Fighter gets the Bead of the Cleaver that the Fighter can't use.

Perhaps it's something similar to the Wizard & Elf Wizard with the Ring of Ymir and Cloak of Wealguard?

Similar question. Logic doesn't make sense to me. Relic and legendary shield. Blessed redoubt relic usable by Fighters, Paladin, cleric, barbarian. Ok , simple enough. However, when upgrade to Giln's, cleric goes away while barbarian stays. Makes no sense to me as most barbarians don't use shields at all because they use 2 handed weapons. Seems to me like clerics get shafted.
Is my logic flawed???

I felt the same way that cleric got the short end, so I went way back though the design threads. It seems that Jeff wanted fighter and Paladin to be the only classes that could equip full legendary redoubt. Barbarian can only use the relic helm (and legendary shield doesn’t do much when you use a 2H weapon), and cleric can only use the relic shield.

While In almost all cases the sunhide robe is the better option, I do wish in could equip full legendary redoubt on my cleric.

Wouldn't blessed or anointed redoubt mail be the best for barbarian vs sunhide?

"Best" is subjective.

Many players don't feel ac matters, so they'd rather have the higher Dexterity for reflex saves and Charisma for the extra Figurine.

I guess it is subjective. I've always gone for the highest AC possible. Two reasons, one selfish and one altruistic. The higher my AC the more survivable my character and I get the survivor pin. The higher my AC the less I need healing and the cleric and paladin can use their abilities to help others in the group without having to save my bacon.

In addition to higher ref save and the extra figurine from using Sunhide over Redoubt, you can also equip Thor's without using extra tokens, gain an open head slot for either Crown of Might or Cranston's, and can use your ranged shield slot for Lucky Shield giving more saves. It's a quite a few benefits over AC, which you probably won't need more than twice / run tops.

Considering I usually play dwarf fighter, even the robe isn't going to make my charisma high enough for the extra figurine, so I might as well tank up the AC,,, which also makes me more likely to use Taunt.
