TOPIC: 2024 Auctions

It seems there’s a high demand for auctions still for this year. Is there a specific reason people aren’t just setting up there own? I’m guessing the reasoning is extreme amount of work?

Trent auctions offer the following that forum auctions don't:

Trent reward bucks (10% cash back on a future purchase)
Pay with credit card
combined shipping (just e-mail Trent to hold your auction winnings until the next auction - happens automatically with pre order auctions)

As a buyer, all of those reasons have lead to me bidding with Trent exclusively.

Ahhh didn’t think about that. That makes sense. Thank you for the insight

I think another big part of the reason why we aren't seeing a lot of auctions right now is that all of the Golden Tickets have been distributed. Getting a chance at one of the random tickets is a big motivator for folks to run auctions.

Did TD throw anything into the $8K packages to make up for the Golden Tickets being gone? I recall they used to do that (I think one year Horns of Plenty were added in), but I don't know if they still do.

The velocity on the "final final REALLY FINAL I MEAN IT.PSD" auction was certainly slower than the 3 that closed in a day or two, but still significantly faster the pre-Gen Con auctions.

I think someone could probably sneak in one last auction.

Does not make sense to run an auction given no GT and the low value of random URs. In order to compete with Tent Auctions which gives you 10% for future orders one would have to fund around $6750 and adding in the current value of URs one would probably only get around $300 for 9 to 10 random URs. This leaves someone around $1,000 in the negative if they would run an auction.

Prospects for people to run 2025 auctions are better but considering 9 to 10 random URs may only get you around $300 you would have to sell the GT, assuming you get one, for $950 or more just to break even. Given GTs are not 100% guaranteed with an $8K order it makes no sense to me for anything to try to compete with Trent Tokens.

Let’s all ask Trent to go back on his word and run 1-super-duper-really and true-honest to goodness-final-going to the printers-last chance auction just for funsies and see what happens.

Sounds good to me, if nobody wants to run a forum auction.

I wouldn't want to ask Trent to go back on his word.

I would like to gauge interest before considering starting one.

What if I skip all your free beer and pizza at GHC? That should save you from my (often) brutal bar tab.

Would you, could you auction Now? If John drinks zero Spotted Cow?
