I think it's unlikely that a newbie will know about treasure-enhancers, let alone get butt-hurt if they can't use one. If the coach casually says something akin to (while pointing at a TE), "That token won't be of use to you on this run, but it could really come in handy on a future run, so hold onto it."

There are a number of 2019 tokens that will be useless in NX:
  • Bogling Charm
  • Scroll Create Water
  • Bead Bugbane
  • Bliss Runestone
  • Boots of the Bog Treader
  • Earcuff of Holy Whispers
  • Haven Holy Symbol
  • Earcuff of Retort
This is just one (maaaaybe two if they're supremely lucky) more.
Have you looked it up in the TDb ?

Throwing it out there, but this also means there is no need to write tokens on the chard, or have anyone check in the epilogue room or coaching. As a “new player friendly adventure run” I think this will give more time to helping rather than token accounting. I like it.

It’s very cool they will have common weapons to give out so everyone can have a weapon at least. Show up to a archery fight with fists and a knife and at least you can throw the knife once before the hail of arrows.
