Well I thought it was a good year for the paladin to get attacked however I have the lowest AC in our group so I fit into both categories of this tho I was focused down in grind at the very last minute..but I wasn't upset about it

Our group noticed that too. Final monster of E2 targeted only our monk until he died. We revived and healed him, and the monster again went after him until the fight ended.

Strange, you must not be talking about any of the three runs you did with my Paladin. As the only party member not immune to psychic control, I was targeted with that every round. Other than that, I got attacked once, total, across all three dungeon runs (non-area attacks targeting just me). No attacks were aimed at the two people I guarded every combat either. Ever. Not exaggerating. I counted.

Yes, I've been cheating on you and running with other Paladins. Also, on those three runs we had a Dwarf fighter that generally taunted and took the first targeted attack.

I can confirm this, I have played a number of final bosses and if they are intelligent it will tell us to play it that way. “This monster is an intelligent creature and will target party members that it might be weak to, like wizards and spell casters”.

Many DMs spread the damage because in the end we want to make the game fun for everyone. But if the monster is a smart one they’re going to take out the bard first to get rid of their pesky helpfulness. Or the cleric or Druid to axe the healers. Or that pointy paladin. In room 7, that enemy wants to kill you. That’s the point
Friendly neighbourhood NPC. Do not rob, maim or kill. Else you take 50 points of irresistible damage and I come back to betray you in the next room.

I have no issue with Grind and targeting. Everyone knows Incognito hates Bards and will kill them outright if possible. LOL!!

The only person he despises more is Rybak The Dwarf Fighter. There is a reason he included that special rule to Grind for this year's GenCon. LOL!!

My bard and elf wizard are right up there with your Dwarf Fighter.

My sample size of two runs noticed absolutely nothing out of the ordinary. I didn't pick up on anyone getting ganged on.

I guess I didnt run into any of the targeting situations. I play Fighters and Paladin...I thought the number of attacks was pretty even especially if I was guarding.

The module usually states explicitly whom the monster targets. That could be Clerics and Paladins if the monster hates good aligned characters, whomever is the biggest threat if the monster is intelligent, etc. This year the monster in the room I was running targeted whomever was standing closest to the monster. Sometimes this caused the same person to be attacked multiple times but due to the room layout it was almost always a melee oriented class.

As a DM, it's my job to run the module to the best of my ability while making sure that people have fun. It's not my job to kill people.

I saw no abusive targeting this year. But if you see it, note the room and run time so you have specific data. And let the end room guy know so they can address it in the day. Specific data can get researched

Did you report this at the end of your adventure?
Have you looked it up in the TDb ?
