I know less about what or where these might fit (ur or transmute maybe) but here they go.

Spyglass eyeglasses : bonus to hit at ranged, bonus to damage at range?

Turn coat : (probably common actually as light armor)

Monocle : /shrug

Feathered hat : maybe common to rare actually

Pail for a hat : footmans cap replacement?

Puffy shirt : monk / wizard compatible armor?

Colorful beads (one of each rarity) that can equip other “colorful beads” actually not powerful enough for their level, but can be used with others to make slightly over power rare bead.

Simple philosophy shipping lanes are a major combative thing in the water and a merchant badge to ship and trade goods...well its thematic

We also would see the low end trade items soaked up. For the player who doesn’t have tons of items to soak up, they have the GP but also the intrigue to see what else it does to find out the rich element of transmuting that is part of the game. The three for one is to keep value beyond just the GP but incent a player to go get two more for that 1 more draw.

Conceptually I agree, though I believe there would need to be some major rebalancing of those numbers. The first one alone is ~$30 ($30.45) worth of tokens being exchanged for a ~$10 ($9.78) token at current cut-throat market prices. The GP alone is worth $5.25.

I guess that is my whole thing. If you really want to unload what is frankly never going to be used in your current port (you have over 1000 darkwood planks and 1000 mystic silks), this is a way to get that soaked out albeit at a penalty. Maybe not as harsh as I have it, but it should be a loss of dollar value ultimately as just sitting there it would take months and months in my mind to unload that amount in auctions. (Just see current auction evaluations for that). You can sell ice in alaska...or you can move it to florida and sell it...it will just be melting much faster

If you’re seriously sitting on 1000 plank and silk and want to get rid of some, post it for sale at 25c below auction price. I know some groups that would love to buy silk at 75 cents and plank at 50 cents.

I think it’s the wrong thread to sell tokens in but I’d buy silk at that price, maybe 40, I’d have to maths. I might do the dP also, have to check my stock at home.

Shipwreck parts reused as equipment
-Bell helmet
-Futtock club
-Sailcloth cape, pants, shirt
-Ratline rung armor
The art would be so cool. It could also be a set.

Also
One legged pant (cause pirate)
Figurine brass monkey
Ioun stone wormywood (cool art possible)

if the basic small shield for this set theme isn't just an old barrel lid i'll be a tad upset lol

Run themes:

an entire run could be based on “friendly looking” creatures that are all horrible - murder ponies, sirens, murderous (but friendly) cooks poisoning and burning as they go - it would be like alice in wonderland but more horror themed. There would need to be a room with a sea troll or similar that parties would normally attack but it turns out to he the only helpful NPC.

Items:
Vegvisir Amulet (nordic sailing compass)
Fair weather Runestone
Horned helmets
Mighty Ax
- if the setting is viking, I’d recommend no plate mail or armor heavier than chain mail that season. Crossbows also wouldn’t be period appropriate.
If it extends to fantasy pirates, then most everything could fit.
Canteen of life saving water (Archer nod) - provides clean fresh water 1/day for 1 person
Bottle/barrel of Rum
Grog (tastes terrible but heals 1 hp - ypu can’t stomach more than 1 per room.)
Whip - definitely fits the theme - maybe usable by all classes but extra +2 to hit/dmg if used by a bard
Spyglass (600 gp but also usable as a spyglass)

I like the idea of letters of marque as a transmute (maybe requires X completion tokens and survival pins as well as plundered gold.) effect: lets a character play as a 5th level character for 1 run or 1 comvention.

Higher level letter of Marque - lets a 5th level character be played at 6th level (revised character card) 1 run or 1 convention.

Creatures:
Giant Squid (10 melee attacks/round)
Sirens
Steampunk crab contraption attacking from the depths
Sentient Bubbles (think 1960’s prisoner show)
Kelpies (see ducktales 2017 murder ponies )
Seaweed golem
Sanguin
Merfolk
Giant clam
Midgard serpent
Ship of the dead
Sea Troll
Water Elemental/Water weird
A sea wizard or sea witch that uses fire and summons fire creatures onto an environment the party can’t let burn
Screaching Eels
Water demons
Sand golem

Conditional effects:
Scurvy
Thirst
Mutiny (NPCs turning against the party)
Fog limiting vision, possibly making ranged attacks impossible
Seaweed limited movement
Burried in sand/quicksand
What do we want? Evidence based science! When do we want it? After peer review!
