TOPIC: Transmuted Elder Orb of Dragonkind allows Duplicate Orbs in Recipe

I'm probably the last person to learn this, however I thought I'd mention it because I was assuming the 5 Dragon Orb transmute would require 5 distinct Dragon Orbs.

It turns out it will accept any 5 Orbs at all:

Yeah, I don't remember it being that way initially, so was surprised when someone mentioned it to me a week or so ago. I probably would have jumped in on some of the auctions if I'd noticed that. Oh well.

Thanks for posting. I missed the recipe in the tokendb. It might have changed some of my purchase decisions, but kind of feel like Fiddy. Oh well.

Whaaaat? Dammit. Now I feel like an idiot for shelling out for some of the older orbs. I don't have all 8, so I can't make the big one, but I was happy to get to 5 different ones with a recent trade.

Hmm, how much more will I have to spend to get the other three?

I'm happy for other who will now be able to make an orb they otherwise wouldn't have been able to make.

That said, this is DEFINITELY not the impression I had been under all along.

Whether it was exactly stated the other way and reversed, implied and reversed, or I just cometely misunderstood I can't say.

If this had been the case all along, I think these items would have gone for a LOT more in all the auctions over the years.

Any chance we could get a similar ruling for the Skull of Cavadar?

The recipe definitely changed. It was five unique orbs earlier. I had duplicates and traded up to get to five unique orbs. Eight was out of the question due to the extremely high cost of the early orbs. Surprised a multi-year recipe changed this late in the game but it is what it is. It is nice that others will be able to make the Elder Orb of Dragonkind much easier now.

Pretty much all recipes change during the development process. Looking back at the previous versions of the master recipe file, I can see the very first incarnation of the recipe for Elder Orb of Dragonkind dated September 23, 2021 clearly states "any FIVE (5) Orbs of Dragonkind, in ANY combination".

Before there was a recipe there was discussion of the token though, and I think many people were lead to believe that it was 5 distinct orbs from that discussion, rightfully or wrongly, it was the perception of many. Not making kind of judgement on that. I don't own any orbs, nor do I plan to own any, just stating that there was a perception that 5 unique were needed by many.

Thank you for the reference Druegar. It makes me happy that more will be able to transmute the Elder Orb of Dragonkind.

Found Druegar's quote of Jeff's quote that doesn't exist anymore that 5 DIFFERENT orbs would be needed. Again things change, but just putting this out there for why we thought that 5 different were needed.
