TOPIC: Volunteering and Want to Grab TD Tickets

Volunteering and Want to Grab TD Tickets 1 year 11 months ago #1

Hey there!

Volunteering for the first time (super excited) and haven't yet received a badge. How do I go about grabbing tickets next weekend for TD without one...or will I receive my badge prior?

Thanks and apologies in advance, as I'm sure this is a common question before!

In the past I have bought my own badge and gotten a credit from gencon for it after volunteering.

Ah, boo. I certainly hope this is not the only way, credit at GenCon is essentially lost $$ for me

I could but wrong, but I believe we've had badges in our accounts prior to events going on sale in the past, we just won't get our physical badge until we get to the con.

I have had gencon refuse to refund a badge in the past when I was volunteering with another company. So I definitely don’t want to get a badge that I might not be able to refund.

That's really weird so long as they submit the gencon I'd with the bag registration you should get refunded automatically.

My problem was probably 10+ years ago, but it has me too paranoid to buy a badge when I know I should be getting one.

Yeah every year I've just bought a regular badge, then when I get my volunteer badge I run over to the registration area (they usually send me to the VIG room) and they look at my volunteer badge, take my bought badge, and then refund me.

Was there an answer on this during the live Trent Talk?

My general answer is "Speak to your AC, or failing that, Lori" It's not that we don't want folks to be able to run (or do whatever else they please at Gencon) But we need to make sure we have coverage. If you can get a replacement person for your shift, it'd go a long way towards making things work well. (Grabbing someone unfamiliar with TD to replace you as a Combat GM is a bit much)
