Looking to connect with anyone else on the run. We have two tickets, and it's always nice to chat in advance, discuss classes, etc.

My wife likes to run Druid and I have a Bard that's survived multiple Nightmare VTDs. That said, willing to scale down the Bard to be difficulty appropriate. Hope to see you there!

My adult son and I have tickets to that run. This will be my first TD experience in many, many years. The last time I ran with only the given token pack and ended in a geared group on nightmare ... that wasn't the greatest experience. I'm a MtG player so definitely understand the finances of collectible games and I decided that I wouldn't play until I had at least something to invest in gear. To that end, I have purchased two token builds that are mostly BiS'ish rares in each slot along with 4-6 URs (including heroism rings) for each build. I also have purchased a fair number of consumables.
My builds are centered on a polymorph druid but probably should be ok'ish as Cleric or one of the Wizards and a one handed pally or one of the fighters.

I am doing the VTD even next Saturday and for GenCon I am running R1 and R2 prior to this, so we won't be complete nubes just mostly nubes.

Happy to have you on board! We're also in the the 5th level, BiS rares, several URs category for the druid, but biased towards spellcaster over polymorph.

Pally or fighter should give the other build flexibility on class. If the druid is OKish on druid or wizard, can always wait and see what other players show up to guide what we need more. Wizards have the advantage of 2 class cards, so less likely both are taken.

I'm really sorry you didn't have a good experience with a group before.

Thank you. Digging in again it’s obvious the the average member of this community is both very engaged and very welcoming. Even at the time I assumed that unfriendly groups are probably not the norm. Not going back was as much to do with my personal dislike of not owning the right tools as anything else. I also don’t like borrowing MtG decks. Some kind of OCD trigger with collection games I guess … the “I must have shiny stuff of my own” syndrome.

Completely understand about wanting your own stuff! I've heard people describe loaner builds as "driving someone else's car" before, and it's apt. You don't know where all the buttons are and it can be a bit awkward if you didn't make the build yourself.

Hopefully VTD went well for you! And, yes, most groups are welcoming and will adjust their gear down to an appropriate level for the run. Sorry that you ran into a not so great group your previous outing :(
