TOPIC: 2023 Completion token ideas?

2023 Completion token ideas? 2 years 1 month ago #1

Should we have a thread for completion token ideas?

Target rare completion tokens somewhere better than rare but not as good as 4*. UC completion tokens around booster Rare.

In an ideal world, I think we do something that doesn’t heavily eat into design space as well, so it might mean “boring variation” on items. Some examples

Ear cuff of the sacred variations:
+2 hp, -2 X damage (could make around 12 more different versions of these). Uncommon version is only - damage.

Ring of resistance: +5 to 1 save (rare), +3 (UC).

Ioun stone: +1 all saves, -2 X damage (baby Topaz Trilliant ). UC is just - damage.

Ioun stone: +2 to a single save. UC is +1.

Bracers of damage: +2 element to a single damage type for melee. Can make another set for missile. Can make another set for spells. This could be like 30 completion tokens.

Not a fan of +5 to one save. Too similar to transmute.

+2 to two different saves is same number of tokens and may be better than a normal rare in some cases. Uncommon obviously +1 to two saves.

It perfectly splits the difference between the rare +4 ring and the transmute +6. Might be boring for vets, but seems to be ideal power level wise for the rare level player.

I didn’t quite follow this. Instead of +2 to, say, will save, you’re suggesting it be +2 fort and +2 will? While that is still less powerful than the +2 all saves iouns, I think I’d err on the side of less power and keep it +2 single save, or possibly +2 and +1 (ex +2 fort, +1 will)
