Jeff, what if the volunteers for a set of polymorph tokens? It would be a new and exciting token for them and the greater player base at large, but wouldn't be too game breaking.

For a volunteer token it might be okay. I don't see it as game breaking. With that said it seems like Jeff might not be ready to have a new charm of polymorph at the UR level considering the direction that trollform went so this year may be too early.

I think making volunteer tokens of use to only 2 classes would be counter-productive.

Agreed, but maybe better than the UR bead which I think has too much competition to be an attractive to the community. A new form option would be useful to Wizards, Druids, and Rangers with the Legendary.

Letting us polymorph into mummies is thematic because that’s what we feel like by the end of the convention :)

For something interesting/different can we get an enable extra psyhic use the vol tokens? Fit the theme of pushing psyhic a bit.

Trying to see where the target is for the Vol stuff and it's like who wants it? Earcuff has several good options already far as Arcane, Orbits, Icecrag and the EGG coming out. Beads are largely overcome by URTEs.


I still suggest the better answer (and allow less pressure far as making good desirable vol tokens) is to help especially repeat vols with credit/alternate ways to get other tokens. Since i do transmute and enjoy the process I'd love to get stuff like the coming Omni tokens i can use or trade off.

I still feel like these volunteer tokens will not result in a good value for volunteers. I think the design of them of URs is actually spot on and reasonably balanced. But as volunteer tokens which have a history of being a UR+ token that sells for 150-300 bucks these will end up not helping folks who don't play.

There just is not a good market for them like Matt said. The slots used are so contested for highly powerful items only collectors will try to buy them. Can't really sell them to new players because they don't know where to look and they'll still end up being half price of whatever orbits or arcane is at probably.

I'd like to bring back up the idea Endgame had in the first thread.

Volunteer UR Relic Transmutes
I really like this because it gives those of us like Matt and I who like transmuting a way to engage with the system, it will drive prices up, and make the game easier to balance and read since we would no longer have to have different classes of URs.

To steal the example this years could very reasonably have been:
+3 damage melee on an Onyx back
+3 damage missile on an Onyx back
+3 damage spell on a Onyx back

Transmute all 3 together to get a relic of +3 (or +4) Damage for all types above

I'd also suggest dropping the volunteer rares entirely and change the reward structure to something like this:
Full time gets you:
1x Vol UR
1x PYP

Part time gets you:
1x PYP

3x Fulltime shifts gets you:
1x Relic or perhaps 1x Omni Cube
+ Now you have enough vol URs to make the relic!

Everyone liked the relic system for volunteering from what I've head and I'd have loved to be a part of it. I think this nets about the same reward level for people but gives you an easier design space and gives us volunteers a lot more fun ways to interact with TD.

A possible transmute for 2024:
(stolen from endgame)
+3 Will Save, +1 Ref Save Ioun Stone on a Onyx Back
+3 Ref Save, +1 Fort Save Ioun Stone on a Onyx Back
+3 Fort Save, + 1 will save Ioun Stone on a Onyx Back

Use all of the URs to create a relic Ioun that is +4 all saves

Another idea (Inspired by Ian)
+3 WIS Ioun Stone on Onyx Back
+3 CHA Ioun Stone on Onyx Back
+3 INT Ioun Stone on Onyx Back

Transmute them together for a Relic Ioun stone of +2 Focus and +1 to saves

I want to chime in that the volunteer tokens suck. I want to see people volunteer so I can continue to be selfish and not have to volunteer. They don't have to be OP and there's plenty of room to still be better.
Earcuff and Bead are super contested, changing the slot could be good. The stats are awful I'd be fine with +2 more on the UR's and +1 more on the rares and even then would be a tough sell. I'd suggest more stats and possibly change the stats/slots or something completely different.

Rare
Scarab Canteen (slotless)
You may choose cast as a scroll Quench Thirst, Purify Water, Create Rain, or create a 100gp scarab gem to offer an npc(this does not consume the canteen). 1/game
Rare
Mummy's sleeping bag (slotless)
You may declare a rest and regain health equal to 2x minutes remaining in room DM makes final call 1/game

UR
Favor of Ra (slotless)
You may call upon the Favor of Ra to summon one of the following; a Feast of Food and Drink, a soothing wind healing your party for a pool of 15, a shield that absorbs any 10 damage. 1/game
UR
Ioun stone or charm or crown of the Mummy
DR/1, read and speak all languages/magic writing. Turn into a sand version of yourself gaining 50% miss chance for the combat 1/game. Fire and Cats deal +5 damage against you.
