Since the thread is still open, I'd like to show why 1H vs 2H Fighter currently isn't much of a decision.

Using this Fighter Maximum Damage Welfor's Build:

And this Fighter Maximum Damage Averon's Build:

We get this kind of expected damage layout, where Crit damage is a crit with the highest damage on the wheel, High is high on the damage wheel without crit, average is the wheel average and factoring the percentage chance of crit (5% for crit on 20, 10% for crit on 19-20), and low is the lowest on the wheel.

There is an extremely small gain for going with 2H weapons, and due to the expanded crit range on Ava's the average damage is higher using Welfor's.

These spreads need to be further apart if we want to see some legendary level fighter builds using 2H weapons.

Now, Lets propose a new 2H weapon to put into a chart, with a damage wheel with numbers to simulate an approximate 2d6 roll condensed into 6 numbers (similar to how Averon's was done).

I'll call this:
Ragnor's +5 Great Axe
2H
14-17-18-19-20-25
Crit on 18-20
Barbarian, Fighters, Paladin

This 2H Axe is about 5 average damage higher than proposed Kilgore's and has a nice expanded crit range which will let it crit more frequently.

For this comparison, lets use the existing proposed Kilgore's wheel, but remove the expanded crit range from the weapon and just rely on the expanded range from Viv's. The we add some other undefined power that doesn't deal damage.

The damage comparison looks like this:

There is a slightly larger variance between Crit, High, and Low, but the Average damage pulls way ahead in with the proposed Ragnor's weapon.

This isn't the only way that there could be a draw for fighters to go 2H, but it would present an option that doesn't exist now.

Agreed! Definitely a chance here to give fighters a true choice between two styles: 1H+Shield or 2H.

+1. Although it seems it might be too late.

The 2H weapon doesn't need to be this year. What needs to happen this year is not have Kilgore's set in such a way that it doesn't crowd out a 2H option.
