TOPIC: Barb Beard XP Question

I finally got mine in too. Happy my paranoia is over lol. Hoping to see more runs like this in the future.

When I went to enter Barb Beard's Treasure xp, Normal was fixed (not a drop-down selection, at all). I was able to enter the final room normally, though.
I asked my wife and she said she was able to put her run in as Hardcore (which we both ran). When she checked, though, her run was also showing up with normal xp.
Was Normal xp the only option for Barb Beard? Was that the intent, or is it just a glitch?

You had the option to play hardcore, but per the special rules here , hardcore gives the same experience as normal. My guess is that they removed the higher difficulties to avoid the hassle of putting in a special rule for hardcore just for this event.

Okay, that's cool. Hardcore was a really good challenge level, I thought.
If I'd run it again with an experienced group, I'd have tried it on Nightmare (I just read that Nightmare wasn't an option, but I thought one of the Barb Beard DMs said that the monsters had NM stats listed).

Well, that is disappointing. i definitely had gotten the impression that hardcore XP was a thing. maybe the original announcement just mentioned getting XP and that normal and hardcore were options, so I figured there was extra XP for hardcore (like usual)...and then it was clarified later that all XP was the same, which i wasnt aware of.
Oh well, as Jason said, hardcore was a good difficulty for our group. We worked great as a team, pumping my ranger stats, i slide first to get close, then teammates bump me onto the 20 nearly every round of combat and many of them getting their own hits as well.
