Thanks! We’ve struck out on the VIG lottery so far, so all we can do is buy our badges separately and hope one of us gets a good time! 12:29 certainly beats the 3 and 4 o’clock hour times we’ve gotten in other years. (Although one of those years was 2021, when 3-something was good enough for the Hyatt Regency. 😳 )

I got 1:19. My best time ever and the best of our group of 6. Hopefully we can get downtown with the rest of the crew, but if not we always have the Shelbyville fall back position.

GENCON Housing is officially started! Good luck everyone! How did you do? It might be helpful if people post what the housing situation is like after they use the portal, so everyone still waiting can get an idea of what is still there.

As of a few minutes ago, the closest hotels are sold out. The Conrad, Sheraton, and some of the other hotels 5-6 blocks away still had availability, at least for king rooms July 31-August 4.

Something may have changed this year. After booking a room, the q-rooms code seems to get marked as used and it doesn't appear to allow access to the search screen. You have to click another link that you put the q-room code into that takes you directly to your existing room with edit and cancel capabilities, but no way to search.

That said, by 12:30 or so skywalk rooms with 2 beds were pretty limited.

I'm not entirely sure, but I also think the skywalk linked hotels weren't allowing thu-sun bookins. Wed-Sun rooms were available though, so I wonder if different hotels have expanded on the minimum stay requirements.

We were not able to reserve a room even though my friend had a 12:39 timeslot. I think his internet connection was poor though, he struggled for over 10 minutes to find a room. Fortunately I have a decent backup room reserved.

A few minutes before my 1:19 time slot, Facebook announced all downtown sold out. So I just took my time and got a suite hotel with two queen beds on the east side. It was still a third the price of some downtowns

I had 1:54PM and can confirm the closest hotel is now 7-8 miles out. Worst part of GenCon is this followed by Event Registration. Fingers crossed for a better Event Registration Time.
