One way to shorten the number of posts would be to shorten the forum feedback period. It sometimes feels to me like it lingers a few weeks too long, and I think some, certainly not all, of the tokens suffer from being overly workshopped. My favorite tokens tend to be the first set of ideas that TD releases.

Edit: Also I want to know where I was on Matthew Hayward's word count list... release the data

I'd say a longer window would probably be better. The idea to move Kilgore's to a 2H weapon was a really good one, and it came on the last day(ish) of token development - much to late to make that kind of change.

Edit -
Agree - might as well release the data on post count, word count, etc. It's all publicly available anyway. I expect I'd end up in the top 5

I don’t see a reason to shorten them. For those who aren’t on here all the time might want to weigh in and have there opinions heard.

Were quotes of quotes of quotes included in the word count?

Thread 1 is for feedback, each forumites may post at most 1 message in the feedback thread (which they can edit if they wish).

Thread 2 is for discussion, where people may post what they like.

This request is because design discussions tend to become repetitious, and it is hard to seek out the core ideas people have for the set, from the blizzard of commentary on well worn topics (e.g. loot cap and other economic related topics, class balance and relative power, relative power of class legendaries, etc.) that frequently emerges pushing threads to triple digits of posts within a few days.

In order to justify this idea, I ran some stats on 2024 token design.

I looked all all the token feedback threads in the 2024 design forum (excluding the ones about Safeholds and Omni Orbs, and the idea generation ones), and summed up the number of posts and words in them.

I excluded from the post and word counts posts made by Jeff and Druegar, leaving the rest as community posts.

Here are the results:
  • 118,596 total words, that's more than 1.5 times the length of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone
  • 1,355 total posts
  • 59 individual forumites posted
  • The median poster made 8 posts with 540 words total.
  • The average poster made 23 posts with 2,010 words total.

Other results:

The single most prolific poster accounted for around 1/12th of all the words, and 1/8th of all the posts.

Half the words were posted by only 5 forumites.

80% of the words were posted by only 15 forumites.

I was the 10th most prolific poster :)

I deff did not make your list 😂😂

Half the words were posted by only 5 forumites. These 5 "super posters" each posted at least twice as many words as the 6th most verbose poster.

That's fascinating! (though also not shocking)

This says to me that we really only need buy-in from a small handful of people to get most of the back-and-forth discussion out of the main feedback threads, and that it could work either officially or unofficially.

Matthew Hayward wrote:
Perhaps the “feedback” thread could require people to quote a short preamble in each post:

Reminder, this is the feedback thread for RARITY. Only one post per player please! For extended discussion, visit the DISCUSSION-THREAD-LINK

I think that could work really well, if TPTB decide to officially encourage/request it.

If they don't (for whatever reason), perhaps individuals could voluntarily preamble their own posts with:

Fellow players: if you have comments about my feedback, please consider using UNOFFICIAL-DISCUSSION-THREAD-LINK so we can keep this official feedback thread brief. I will edit this post later if I change my mind about something!

Also, I'm not sure we need a separate discussion thread for each rarity; I think just one per design round would be enough. People will use it to talk about whatever they want to talk about anyway :)
dmrzzz's trade thread

Yes, my AC is lower than the Wizard's. No regrets!
