Hey everyone,<br /><br />Thanks for all the advice and the in person tryouts of the equipment.  I was all set to buy a digital piano until we were at a local fair and walked by someone playing a high end Yamaha.  My wife said in passing "those always sound so fake".  So, back to the drawing board - I still have 11 days until her birthday.<br /><br />- Doug

I'm guessing based on that, a boob job will probably not be appreciated either.<br /><br />An ounce of gold or two might be spiffy. The way the price is rocketing up, it might not be a bad investment either. I think my mom has a few dozen ingots stashed in her safety deposit box that my grandfather bought decades ago. It's almost like a family heirloom. Besides, nothing's more real than gold.

We are going to sell a bunch of Jen's old gold jewelry that she doesn't wear anymore.  We were told to expoect the price to continue going up for a while yet.<br />

You can probably find one cheap going door to door to Chinese families whose kids have all grown up. My parents have a piano, my grandmother has a piano, my uncle's family has a piano....and no one plays.

I did up until I was 15-16 or so. Same thing with the violin until 18.
