So I am a bit behind on discovering this game, but my gaming cohorts and I have recently acquired and experienced the humorous game of Munchkin. It had us in stitches and got funnier (and more brutal) as the night wore on.

Of course I think the most humorous moment for me was the sudden discovery of the origins Dave R's mantra regarding wandering ducks in a dungeon. =D

Next up in the coming weeks, Descent: Journeys into Darkness.

Haven't opened my copy of Descent yet. Just can't seem to bring myself to. The damn box is huge and intimidating.

Welcome to the converted, I am happy to say that Munchkin is fast becoming a favored game of many of the TD staff, I am hopeful we can have a pick up game or two this year, that is in our spare time....

Dave
You should know better than to pick up a duck in a dungeon....

I would be happy to bring my entire collection of Munchkin for you all to play with at Gen Con. It is one of my favorite SJ Games, followed closely by Dork Tower. (Look for Semi Life Sized Dork Tower at Origins 2007!)

Anyone feel like putting together a tournament for the TD people for it? I would be happy to provide prizes.

Marinda
Northern Indiana MIB Cell Leader Steve Jackson Games

I had an AWESOME time playing Munchkin at SoCal. (Even if Lee did beat me. I still say he cheated. ;) ) I hope we can get some games going at Indy. It would be really fun to play on Sunday after the riddle reveal, if enough people don't have to leave early.

Descent is a LOT of fun. Our group really enjoys it. Be sure you go online and get the updated rules (I'll post the links below). And there is an expansion coming out this year. NOTE: The website says adventures take 2-4 hours. We've never finished in less than 4 1/2. Part of it is the learning curve of not being familiar with the rules yet. Also, the third site listed below had an ad for a place selling the game for $57.99. They are currently out of stock, but the site is here . You can also find good deals on eBay, which is where we got ours.

The official site , also has fan-submitted quests
Fan site with a campaign editor
Scroll down to find the forum , with discussions of rules, variants, etc
Fan Created wiki pages

Well I'd love to participate in any Munchkin games that may occur after hours.

Thanks for the links Heidi! It was actually another series of posts in the past where you mention Descent that turned my friends and I onto it. We'll take a look online for it as the $58 dollar price does sound better than the $79 we see in stores.

I sometimes think that with all of these 'big box' games FF keeps putting out it's only a matter of rtime before some gamer sues them for causing lower back pains.
