For a second time, the post office has skipped a package for me right over Illinois. I bought some tokens from Indiana, and the are suddenly in Kansas. A few months ago, the same thing happened. Then it was due to the wrong zip code handwritten on the package. When it finally arrives sometime this weekend, I will get to see what happened this time. I have a funny feeling it will be the zip code again...

Speaking of Zip Codes,
I got a Christmas card from an in-state winery. It had my name, street address, city, state and for zip code: "0".
Somehow it still made it.

Does your 5 digit zip code start with 0?
I publish a magazine and have to mail a few copies to states whose zip codes start with zero and I have to manually correct it every single mailing. Somehow the mailing program doesn’t like starting with zero

No, its a "45".
I thought it was very odd.
Maybe the fact that the post office of origin is a very small town?

I won a token auction on eBay recently. The package was shipped on Saturday the 3rd, and has arrived in my city this afternoon. Theoretically, I will have it tomorrow.

Today, I placed an order for tokens, which have left Carbondale. Likely they are on the way to St. Louis...I cannot help but wonder how long it will circle around there.

St. Louis has been a crap shoot this year but my last batch made it through St Louis in two days as a medium flat rate box so hopefully only 1-3 days delay

I'm still waiting to receive my V4b treasure destined for Madison, WI.

USPS in possession of item 3/24
Arrived St. Louis 3/25
Depart St. Louis 3/26
...Arrived St. Louis 3/29...
And tracking updates daily since then with "In Transit, Arriving Late
Your package will arrive later than expected, but is still on its way. It is currently in transit to the next facility."

I just checked my auction shipments after reading this and all of them arrived no problem except for one that is still going god knows where and it’s only 4 hours from my house and has driven past the destination twice

Can I assume you've opened a case with USPS? I live in the Milwaukee area and my V4b package was taking the same trip in and out and in St. Louis. I opened a case on the 29th and my package mysteriously appeared on my doorstep on the 30th (no scan showing it ever left St. Louis a 2nd time).

I just did last Friday. I followed 2. Complete a Help Request Form here: www.usps.com/help/missing-mail.htm . I got a canned response asking to give them time to investigate etc. but haven't heard anything else back yet. Is that the process you followed or did you jump right to 3. Submit a Missing Mail Search Request?

I don't think I had to submit a missing mail search request. I remember starting out with opening a case for "Where is my package?". I got the canned response back in the morning, but then later that afternoon I got an email from someone at my local PO saying that she was assigned to work my case and would get back to me within 24 hours. The package showed up about 18 hours later, although I never did hear from her again. I got my package, so at that point I didn't care. It's the 2nd time I went this route and both times I got the same result. Although the first time I waited 7-8 days before opening the case, this time I was less patient.

On another note, I'm carefully watching my transmute shipments to Carbondale. I sent them in two separate small priority mail orders. Larger boxes seem to have a higher propensity for sitting in St. Louis an extra day or two. There may be nothing to that with my small sample size, but wanted to see if that would help. Although, two boxes means doubling the odds that one will get held up or lost. We'll see.

While USPS is saying to expect 4 days to get from Wisconsin to Illinois, I've noted that with my last two shipments, they both took only 2 days to get to Carbondale. Unfortunately, one of them arrived on a Saturday. When they went to deliver, no one at TD was there, so it was marked undeliverable. USPS then sat on it until Tuesday before trying to redeliver (Monday was not a holiday). In this case it was Carbondale that sat on it for an extra day.
