TOPIC: The Chainmaille Wench

Re: The Chainmaille Wench 17 years 11 months ago #13

It would be a large project, but as I looked at your work I envisioned a sash made of mail (not sure of the official term, but like team token's sashes) that encircled the neck, and attached to it were all the mail encircled tokens for a character.

Dave

That sounds both large and expensive, but very cool.

Kim

Very nice. I luv it all. I think you've a great little business opportunity. I like Dave's idea. I can see a Worf type sash. Very cool.

Widseth

I believe the term for a sash around the neck would be a torq (pronouced tor-k) of course I maybe mispelling it. That would be cool but quite frankly you'd need to ensure hair doesn't get caught from the links. Ouch it hurts. Mine so fair it gets tangled easily enough without little metal rings to get caught in. I'd be more interesting in a baldric (a sash that goes around the neck and under one arm-so across body like) or an actual sash for the waist. Still the works look very good Les.

I've started a website page for Les until she gets her own site set up.

Currently its just the token information and pricing. There is also her chainmaille email addy at the top and bottom of the page so you could contact her.
No order forms are set up for her yet, just the info currently.

http://pixiestitch.com/tokenwraps.html

Quick question on the token wraps. How well do they "hold on" to the token? In what manner are they connected? I'm curious, because cautious as I may be, I know I would end up smacking it around a couple times pretty hard, or getting it caught in something, and I would be mortified if I lost my Dryad Circlet due to carelessness on my part. Basically, is this something that is best used for display, or is it ready for some genuine dungeon delving madness? I'm very interested in acquiring one of these. I may create or acquire an actual circlet to attach it to, if things work out :-)
The rings go all the way around, and overlap both sides of the token. They are pretty tight (any tighter, and it would be almost impossible to close the last ring).

If you snagged them on something and pulled open a single ring, the token still probably wouldn't come out. If you pull several rings open, or push on the token really hard, you can pop it out.

If you are "rough" with your jewelry, you should consider using one of the "stronger" metals, like titanium or niobium. Or I can price it for you in stainless steel.

Depending on what type of circlet you want, I could probably make a chainmaille one, with the token centered in the front.

Hey Les,

I hope the webpage is okay for now. I know its nothing fancy, but at least hopefully its is something until you get yours up and running. And send me your logo whenever you get it, okay sweetie? *HUGS* Hope this helps.

I sold my first dice bag last night!! And the manager of my FNGS wants me to email the owner with pics and prices. He said they might take them on consignment.

Here's some better pics of the bags. The large one holds 70 d20, the small one holds 40 d20. The item is the middle is a playing card, for size reference.

Congrats! ::does the snoopy dance::

I'm eagerly awaiting the paycheck that includes my bonus. It's supposed to be either January 29th, or February 12th. When that arrives, I may find myself curiously compelled to acquire 10k gold token wrap for my circlet... ::glares at his calendar::

something hit me, I like the idea of tokens being readily accessible and not in a bag. Maybe have a belt or a sash of tokens that a player may need in a room and able to look at easily. Also and I apologize if these have already been listed a place to hold what tokens someone may be wearing as armor or weapons.
