Don't forget to vote tmr.! I may try to vote before school. Jen already voted via absentee ballot, since she's flying to NC on business today.
I'll never understand why we encourage people to vote. I'm not sure most people should be voting quite frankly and certainly not if you have to practically drag them to the polls. It's like thwarting evolution.

i feel that if you don't vote you shouldn't complain. no matter who you vote for or how the election turns out, if you don't voice (vote) your opinion when it "counts", i don't want to hear about it later. =|

in my home county there have been elections lost by a single vote. beyond the local level it's completely different though.

We'll make this simple.. if you can't do Algebra.. or Write a 1000 word paper in less than an hour...

DON'T Vote.

I'm the first one to say that everyone has rights,

But smart folks should have more say, on account of being smarter.

cause the last thing we need is presidents elected cause they're popular... This country is not a Giant High School.

Elect based on merit, and smart people... Usually look at the facts, and vote based on facts, not the latest campaign trash that hit their mailbox.

[/rant]

In mine mama country, you vote how we tell you, when we tell you, and you don't work too hard, or we send you to the gulag.
Gah! A stupid pundit just announced that good weather is better for democrats, and bad weather is better for republicans. Don't the pundits have anything better to do than research silly facts? I suppose I should be relieved they're not sacrificing chickens and reading the entrails.

LOL. Binia, you are hilarious. I was trying to point out the importance of voting. Even if you feel like your single vote is not important, it is the concept, and the ability to vote that make this country great. I do spend part of the summer in Canada by the way, on the ocean, near Halifax. Beautiful. Let's hope for crappy weather, or else I will have to slay a chicken (I will do my utmost to keep it painless) outside the polling building.

The general consensus is indeed that good weather is better for the dems, and bad weather for repubs. The issue is turnout - Dems tend to do better when turnout is high, and repubs when turnout is low. Historically repub voters have been more motivated and diligent in voting.

I wish! No, no school I've taught in has been closed on election day, even when the school itself is a polling place.
