TOPIC: Two Types of token bags in 2010?

Re: Two Types of token bags in 2010? 14 years 8 months ago #97
One point...

Why would I want:

53 Dwarven Steel
23 Minotaur Hide
25 Alchemist's Parchment
43 Darkwood Plank

Because it weighs 50 lbs less than 1325 common weapons, 575 common armor, 625 commons scrolls and 1075 common items? And sits nicely in a smallish shoebox?

Gary,

I'll send you a postage-paid box. If you want to just drop the trade items in it, I'll be happy to relieve you of your burden. ;)
Have you looked it up in the TDb ?

I like this idea in general as probably 90% of the commons I get end up going right back in exchange for trade items. It just seems like a good idea to reduce the amount of back and forth and storage of hoards of old commons. Unless of course TD can come up with a good way to reuse the tokens that get turned in.

I certainly don't have the clout of an $8K buyer, but I ordered a beefy amount of tokens this year and spent hours sorting and re-sorting and then packing them up for various trade items. At first it was very fun, but after while it got tedious.

I know some of the bigger buyers have already voiced that they want all their tokens so having this only be an option for the $8K order may not be worth it. it seems like the $1K area would be the sweet spot if there were enough $1K buyers to make it worth it. One idea would be to come up with an option that makes sense and offer it during the pre-orders on the stipulation that if enough pre-orders come in for the light packs to be viable, it will be done. Otherwise, everyone gets the normal packs.

I like the idea, as I'm already running out of storage room for tokens. I didn't even sort my 2009 Commons and Uncommons, they're just sitting in a box on my shelf.

I am storting out the healing and gold but otherwise all the commons go in a shoe box.

That's pretty much what I did too. Plus I pulled the few I needed for combos. Other than that, the commons are all in a box, and the uncommons are in a bag in the same box.

We aren't 8k buyers, but I know I would pre-order with some being smaller bags. We end up sorting them on either the office or great room floor and until we can get them all bagged for Dave they end up as trip hazards. We bought poker cases to store them longer term but those fill up too quickly too.

Sounds like as long as it is optional (and not restricted only to the 8k buyers), you'll probably have enough in each camp to support both styles IMHO.

I don't see the harm in offering this up in increments of $1,000 -- if the person so chooses. It is less work for Dave, less work for collectors and it will free up more funding for the event. And the cool thing is if you don't want to partake...that is cool...your Commons are now less "common" than previous years.

Like I said, this will be sort of a pain to admin, but it is the least I can do for the awesome collectors. They give us the funding we need to make TD even better.

More info later once I get exact numbers put together for the 2010 set.

Thanks for all the feedback!

optional is very cool thanks!

...and now that you mention COMMONS being a little less common...well hey, I am open for business trading commons anytime anyplace!
