<br /><br />No.  All that previous stuff is gone.  It is just a Holy Symbol that the Cleric can decide on whether or not to activate immediately when they die.<br /><br />At that time, and alive characters in the group of fully healed to max hit points.  The Cleric, however, cannot be then raised.  They are dead for the rest of the game.<br />

<br /><br />Can the Cleric choose to die at will, to activate the Holy Symbol?  That would be in the Cleric's nature, to sacrifice for the good of the group.

No...the magic only works if the cleric dies without committing suicide.  Ever seen "Beetlejuice" or "What Dreams May Come"?

I can't see the sacrifice as something a Cleric would do... a Paladin yes but not the Cleric. I prefer the Damage Reduction 2 to all combat types and the boots specifically to Melee. Not stacking of course. Not every party will have the Censer and the boots. I think if the Cleric is going to sit out the entire fight he should be helping the other players like the bard did when he could only sing and not slide. That would still make it a must have if I played a Cleric.<br /><br />Lady Myke

I'm just not digging the Holy Symbol of Redemption in its current incarnation. Yeah, it would occasionally be handy, but (as a cleric) if it means I'm out of the rest of the game, I'd almost never use it. It might be more appealing if it was a super-enhanced holy symbol (+4 to turning damage) as well, but I'd still almost never use the sacrifice effect.<br /><br />Out of curiosity, if the Cleric got to the final room, used the HSoR to save the entire party who then went on to kill the BBEG, would the cleric get full credit for the dungeon, including survivor pin?
Have you looked it up in the TDb ?

<br /><br />The Cleric  would get full experience for making it to the final room, but wouldn't get the Survivor Pin, because he wouldn't have survived.

If it doesn't take a slot, whytf wouldn't you have one? It's not like there's a choice here. @$^&, it's not even a consumable, though it probably should be. Either that or it shouldn't be slotless. I'm not sure we really want this thing going off once an adventure. It just seems too cheesy. Heal everyone at no cost, since your cleric was croaked anyway. It sounds like it should be a burnable at least.<br /><br />Here's an interesting balance tweak....<br /><br />Which would people prefer? A 1-shot (Or even 2-shot) consumable that is slotless allowing to cleric to gank himself at will and heal everyone.<br /><br />or<br /><br />A perm but slotted item which heals everyone if the cleric is ganked. As for what slot....it should be something which provides a bit of a tradeoff. Normally, this would sound like a neck slot sort of item, but we've got ridiculous numbers of those already. How about a shield? Give it less of a bonus than the other shields out there available to clerics and we've got the balance. Something +2 would probably do it.

It doesnt have to be a shield but the off hand slot is a good choice. <br /><br />If the cleric is going to make the supreme sacrifice for the party, he should get full credit for the dungeon if the rest of the party does. I'm not sure about the spin of this voluntary sacrifice stuff but I also dont think its worth a big showdown if others think its a great idea.

<br /><br />Well - the reason you might not get one is because there are so many other great Ultra-Rares out there, and you might prefer them.  Most people are going to have to pick and choose which PURPs to get, they won't be able to get them all.  I know in our group this certainly won't be going off once an adventure - even on Nightmare our Cleric almost never dies.  Since I'm outfitting the group, is an item like this, which is terrific when it goes off but will seldom go off, better than something like the Mithral Gauntlets or Bracers of Supreme Archery, which will help the group every single combat?  I liked the Censer of Sacrifice much more than this new PURP, I'm not sure if this will be one of my PYP's or not.

How about this as a replacement Ultra-Rare for the Censer of Sacrifice.  An Orb of Resurrection, usable only by the Cleric.  It would have either no damage wheel or a minimal damage wheel (dagger damage or less), but if the Cleric were to slide a natural "20", they could resurrect one dead party member (maybe at less than full HP to balance the item).  It could be limited to one activation per room, if it needed more restrictions for balance.  <br /><br />It would give the Cleric a slim chance of resurrecting someone, but it would be at the cost of a regular attack (since the item would have little or no damage wheel).
