From what I can tell, it looks like there is an issue with the damage output for a Wand of Thor's Fury as well as Wand Mastery (or there is something I didn't know).

It looks like any STR bonus on the Wizard is adding into the damage output of the Wand of Thor's Fury, so, if I put on Gloves of the Brute, the Wand damage goes up by 3pts.

I also have put the same build in the Elf Wizard and Wizard (both are 5th level), and I see the same damage for the Wands. The 5th level Wizard should have +2 damage due to Wand Mastery.

Sorry if these have been mentioned before, but I still see these issues in version 2018.08.

Thanks.

I probably should just pull the wands from being put in the mainhand slot on the spreadsheet. The only reason I included this years was because they don't get punched and some people feel weird not having anything to put in that slot, but since STR damage bonuses automatically apply to mainhand, it is displaying a higher damage average on the sheet. At the end of the day, the party card would still be correct since it only shows the melee dmg add on amount (which doesn't apply to wands), but the individual class sheet could mislead the user into thinking the average damage is higher than it is.

Unless someone knows a reason to keep it on that I haven't thought of.

My vote is to nuke em. Here's why I feel that way:
  • One-use items should not be equippable. Monks can't equip shurikens, casters should not be able to equip wands.
  • Wands are not weapons (no damage wheel, no attack slide to use) and should not be "equipped" in weapon slots.
If you do allow wands (and I don't think you should), they should only be in the ranged mainhand slot. Wands are never, ever used as melee weapons. (Grind is an aberration and operates under its own rules)
Have you looked it up in the TDb?

Hypothetically a wand with a damage wheel could be a really interesting design space for next year though. Or the on the flipside a sword with an activated power.

Actually I do allow monks to equip shurikens, but this is because they can have to hit bonuses and special damage types which impact the party card. Plus they actually have a damage wheel. Even the new wands don't have damage wheels or actually affect any of the recorded stats. Let me know if the bonuses from once per combat weapons shouldn't affect the party card.

I had not pulled one use per combat/room items (technically a thrown dagger is in the same situation as the shuriken) because the DM manages the reuse part. Quite some time ago a pulled the one/limited use consumables.

I will post an update later with those pulled. Fortunately the wands don't impact the party card so if people already have their stuff printed, it shouldn't be a problem next week.

I was all proud of myself because before posting that, I tried to equip a shuriken on the spreadsheet and "confirmed" it wasn't possible. But just now I realized I was looking in melee, not ranged. D'oh!

In the .08 version of the spreadsheet I can see what looks to be calculation or data headers in the Cleric tab in the "P" column and beyond. This is both for the standard and unlocked version of the spreadsheet.

Version 2018.09 Notes
  • Removed the 3 wands of Thor's... which are 1 use per room and don't function as a traditional weapon, but were picking up strength bonuses in the displayed average damage
  • Removed Bottle of Bubbles and Pilum of Lightning which are 1 use and shouldn't still have been in the list.
  • Re-hid the calculation columns on the Cleric tab that were accidentally left exposed.

Note: This is the official version for GenCon 2018 unless something major is discovered in the next few days.

It looks like Thor's +5 Returning Hammer of Smiting (listing as "Smashing" in the data sheet) is not marked as usable by any class (melee or ranged).

Fixing the name, but it won't show on a drop down until a character has met the minimum dexterity amount.
