Where would you advise we take our business where it might be read by someone who makes the rules?

Matthew Hayward wrote: Editors note: Some of the undersigned below stated a preference for a more straightforward and less theatric petition. The TL;DR version of the below is:

Several Wizard players are requesting a reversal of the ruling that Mad Evoker's Charm. They would like it to function so the doubled base damage of area of effect spells like Burning Hands effect every target, rather than creating a pool. The succinct reasons for this are;

  • That's how it was presumed to work when the token was acquired
  • It's hard to explain / understand (the in game effect is different from what the token seems to say)
  • It's hard to administer in the dungeon (e.g. Mec Doubled Burning Hands with +10 spell bonus against 3 targets does 9 to each and then a damage pool of 19 - it's complex for the player and DM to reason all that out and split the pool rather than it just doing 28 to each).

The in character and signatures follow:

Oh unseen hand of fate, who injects magic into our world, and sometimes commands it back out again:

Your Wizards beseech you - For a great calamity has befallen one of our most coveted artifacts!

Since time immemorial, like, literally hundreds of days ago, the Mad Evoker's Charm has been understood to double the base damage of our housecleaning spells (link - NSFW language) like Burning Hands, Stone Storm, and Lightning Storm.

Recently your Voice Among Mortals (Druegar) clarified that MeC when applied to these kinds of spells does not double the base damage for all targets, but rather adds a pool of damage equal to the base.

This has caused much wailing and gnashing of teeth, and the donning of sack cloth and ashes, whereas:
  • Some Wizards made decisions about acquiring this item with the former understanding of what it did
  • The incidence of multiple monsters in our daily adventuring seems exceedingly rare - can't we just have this one?
  • Mass creature damage is a differentiating characteristic of our class
  • The new behavior adds complexity of interpretation (MeC doesn't seem to do what is written on it)
  • The new behavior adds complexity of execution (against multiple targets Wizards must divide up their pool among them somehow instead of just announcing totals)

We formally petition for the Mad Evoker's Charm to truly double the base damage of spells.

In a related note, which is in no way self serving, we observe that the True Grind DM finds this proposal acceptable .

The Arugment of Wizards assembles, climbs to the top of our tower, forms our Circle, and sings our Song of well reasoned Argument .

Please find us worthy and restore our Mad Evoker's Charm to its erstwhile glory.

1. This thread is not the best place for this. I imagine Jeff will see it at some point - probably belongs in the Wizards' Tower.

2. And, um, I also "signed" it.

Is there a way to chain some of the hidden searches?

For instance if I wanted to see all rare one-handed weapons?

Does the search box have any expression filters such as:

rarity:rare weapon-handedness:one-hand

or a URL hack such as:

tokendb.com/weapon-handedness/one-hand/rarity/rare

I've tried both but neither work.

Thanks!

Ace

I'm not sure what you mean by "hidden searches".

You can search for rare weapons, but it's not granular enough to add handedness to the mix.
Have you looked it up in the TDb ?
Please post TDb corrections in this thread .

Can't you do a weapon rare search and use One-Hand Melee to search titles and body? Or does that not work?

Edit: I guess that does not work.

You can do a filter or view a taxonomical list, not both at the same time.

By hidden searches I mean any searches that are not in the filter list, but if you drill in and click you can find them, such as:

tokendb.com/limited-use/expendable/
tokendb.com/to-hit-bonus/ranged/
tokendb.com/extra-damage-to/giants/
tokendb.com/ammunition-type/bolt/

You can chain multiple filters together:

tokendb.com/?fwp_slot=back&fwp_rare_box=rare

After some URL hacking it turns out you can combine one hidden search with filter chains!

tokendb.com/weapon-handedness/one-hand/?fwp_rare_box=rare

Gives me what I am looking for, which is awesome.

You just can't combine two hidden searches as they do not have an fwp code. That's why I was curious if there were any command word chaining in the search box, like how gmail has
from:email@email has:attachment before:date

Are +2 Sling Bullet of Gazebo Slaying and/or 200 GP Underduck of Doom usable as completion tokens in the Ring of Heroism recipe?

They show up in the list, but I'm just checking as they were also available in the treasure generators.

I really hope they don't count for RoH though they are completion for non-Gen Con events.
