I respect and like your imagination, but!!...

Soulbound means Soul Bound.

If I had an Artifact and I died I'd want that Token buried with me if no one in my family (wife, kids) wanted it.

I would actually put it in my Will that my Soulbound Token would be willed to whatever family member wanted it and would *use* it. Then Jeff would "decree" my Token is now Soulbound to whomever I decided in my Will.

I don't think Soulbound means that a family member could use it. Like you said, Soulbound means Soul Bound, it's only ever usable by that one person.

I meant that if I owned one and I died I would bequeath it to a family member as if I sold my Soul to them so they could use it. I also said it would have to be approved by Jeff to be usable that way.

I did understand what you meant, I was just saying that I think Soulbound means it's locked to just that one player, not transferable even to a family member. I doubt Jeff would want to open up any kind of loopholes in Soulbound, it would cause him a lot of headaches as more people tried to fit through that loophole, or expand it.

That's true.
And I know your objections to more soul-forged artifact tokens...
But it would be cool to see them again... In 10 or 15 years....
Just my opinion...

They say that the best weapon is the one you never have to use. I respectfully disagree. I prefer the weapon you only have to use once! Oh - and if you really need to think about whether you're going to use the fireball or the + umpty staff of butt-whooping - you're likely to find yourself full of arrows, or fangs, or nasty knives & swords and such. Don't think - just shoot!

Humm, of course the sale of a soul would have to be completed before death to have a chance of being upheld. Welizkzous of the 9th level v. Trump 666 Lu Rev 4th 867 (2014)(Attempted sale of Father's soul invaild on grounds individual predeceased contract)>

Ah, but if you Shepardized that case, you'd know that the finding in Welizkzous v. Trump was overturned on appeal.

Apparently there were irregularities in the way that the precedent established in Mammon v. Decency regarding financial transactions was applied.

Sure, no problem at all. Like many topics, I know there are people on both sides of the topic of additional Artifacts ever being available, all with valid reasons. :)

Pardon my noobishness here, but it seems to me like there's two issues in play;

- Tokens that are too powerful (at least in higher than singular quantities, or simply by having mechanics that create problems with design of future tokens)

- Tokens that are personalized in some fashion.

Having "Forar's Fabulous Fletching Quiver" would be nice, but having to deal with it as being too good/powerful even at UR or higher ('generally available quantities', to one degree or another) butts up against that.

So the question, to me, becomes this; what's more valuable; getting ones name officially into the game/lore/tokens/etc, or having something super powerful?

There's wiggle room to ponder what a reasonable price is just for naming rights to personalize something in an official way. I mean, I can add "Forar's Token" in pen to something right now if I want to, though my writing sucks and I'd probably get yelled at for defacing/counterfeiting/proxying/etc, but as a gold sink for the game and a way for people to leave their mark, I'm not sure they have to be both problems at the same time.

And wouldn't this be kind of a 'market decides' situation? If they used to go for tens of thousands of gold and only go for half as much now because the demand isn't there, they still pulled piles of gold/tokens out of the market. Whether or not it's worth the overhead at those reduced rates (arranging the auction or however it's handled, arranging for a single or extremely low run of tokens, etc) is beyond me.

But having read through this thread and a few others on such topics, it seems to me that if the power/unique mechanics/etc are causing issues with people who want to invest into the game in a more personalized way, why not just separate the two matters and attend to the one that doesn't cause them design/power creep headaches?

Pardon me if I've misread anything or am perhaps lost and in the wrong thread. It's been one of those days.

If you could in essence sell your soul to a family member, why not to a stranger?

And again, I would only want the token to directly renter circulation if it is okay with the individual who had the soul bound token (or with their heirs if they never expressed an opinion). If direct recirculating of the token isn't wanted but some type of giving back is desired, the token can be returned to Jeff and a new arcane recipe can be offered as part of that quest mentioned earlier.

That creates perverse incentives.

If you want an artifact then the best way for you to get one is for a current artifact holder to DIE?
