When shipping tokens to us, please follow the guidelines laid out here . In the last two days alone we've received three boxes that look like this:

We cannot transmute what we don't receive. Please, protect your investment.
  • Get a roll of good quality shipping tape and make sure EVERY edge and corner is taped.
  • Fill in empty space in the box.
  • Don't pack dozens of token baggies loose in a box. Fill smaller boxes and then put those in a larger box.
Have you looked it up in the TDb ?

Use STRAPPING TAPE instead of SHIPPING TAPE. It's the stuff with the lines in it. It's what your large orders are wrapped in and it does a MUCH better job at protecting your box than standard shipping tape.

A Medium Flat Rate box holds SIX Small Flate Rate boxes comfortably.
A Large Flat Rate box holds EIGHT boxes LOOSELY and NINE boxes IF YOU CRUSH SEVERAL CORNERS. I would avoid using LARGE flat rate boxes if at all possible. Stick to Medium ones.

If you have less than 6 small flat rate boxes to ship but more than 1 fill the remaining space in the medium box with UNSEALED but FOLDED small flat rate boxes. It gives your box more stability and decreases the likelyhood your box will get badly damaged and lose tokens.

Pro-tip:

Best way to have boxes for sending in transmutes? Buy tokens from TD direct, and do lots of runs. They've sent me plenty of medium flat rate boxes that have already been covered in strapping tape as a result, and I just have to reseal them! ;)

Just FYI, Flat Rate boxes are free from the Post Office. If you don't want to pick them up at your local PO, you can order them (again, for free) from www.usps.com/ .

Yep. And they will bring them directly to you if you are also shipping items out as they do at door pickup for USPS priority boxes. Win win

i have reused many boxes over the years. one box, i was able to utilize for several years. the spacer boxes you get from TD make excellent boxes for shipping tokens back to them.

if writing your own labels, make the writing large enough and good penmanship is always good.

here is a tidbit i have not seen mentioned before, or i missed it. take a needle and poke a couple of holes in your baggies. DO NOT SLICE OR TEAR THEM! it will allow for the air to escape thus getting a tighter fit.

Hole punch.

I do not recommend doing anything that compromises the structural integrity of the bags--they're fragile enough as it is. If you want to expel excess air from the bags, zip the bag 95% of the way, give the bag a squeeze, and then seal it completely.

My husband is a disciple of this method. I usually sort, bag, and label the tokens. Then he rolls his eyes at me and sighs while squeezing all the air out before putting the bags in the small boxes.

And the flip side to that good advice is: if your handwriting looks like chicken scratch--or you're an MD--please use the printed labels.
