That would have been cool, geeky, and fun. My post was not intended to be about powers but because the cat is already out of the bag it had to be.

I would have much preferred any of the following:
  • Your suggestion where you get a pet stuffed dragon that could sit on your shoulder while you run
  • A special colored plastic token (with the existing dragon on it)
  • A replacement 10-level medallion with a dragon circling the exterior

I think if only the Elder Orb existed as-is, few would have really commented. Expectations would have been met.

Most of what I've heard/seen (and admittedly thought) is simply that there is almost no difference between the two, when the amount of time/effort/$ needed to acquire them is quite different. And as I posted before, that difference doesn't even need to be about the numbers, just the feeling that the difference is something more special than a Rare. Heck, even the stuffed plush TD dragon you mentioned would have been cool, assuming it was unique to the Eldest Orb.

THIS is exactly it.
The orb is basically in line with what I was expecting it to be...small bonus and something special like a dragon familiar/pet. So I am definitely happy to be able to get it.

But I wasn't expecting the elder and eldest orbs to be identical other than name/art. And was sad that it seems using my pet spirit dragon ability will be less effective than not using it at all.

And I suppose my hopeful self was wanting the familiar/pets to be more unique; for example having 5 of each chromatic and 5 of each metallic, and each eldest orbs gets 1 randomly. It wouldn't be completely unique, but feel more-so than everyone getting red...also, my personal bias of liking every other color/metal over red. And hey, if it takes a wish to change the color of your dragon, I'm game for that ;)

And just to be clear on my preference if any change were made: if I had to choose one or the other, stronger pet ability VS more unique color dragon and/or token backing...I would go for the more unique pet/token. Again, *IF* a change were made. Not that I expect it, but if it were, I wanted to state my preference.

Edit to add:. Thank you Jeff for all the special things you add to this game to make it fun for everyone. We appreciate it all.

Your level 10 medallion idea is definitely a winner. That would be my preference as well and something easily added.

I don’t care very much if anything changes about the orbs and spirit pet, however I wonder how much of the reaction is:

1. A reaction to the spirit pet per se

2. A reaction to the only in game difference between the Elder and Eldest dragon orb being the spirit pet.

If the Eldest dragon orb granted the “Eldest Dragonkin” subtype that gave +3 to a stat instead of +2, or if you could equip both the Elder and Eldest Dragon Orbs then there would be a more compelling in game reason to transmute the more Orb intensive Eldest orb.

In that case, I wonder if we’d be talking about the spirit dragon pet at all - because it would be a fun add on, not the entire benefit, of stepping from Elder to Eldest.

Any chance we could send in our Spirit Pet Red Dragons and get some dragons glued onto them?

It would need to be very tiny dragons since there is a damage wheel. We could probably do that ourselves.

Or... Crazy thought... The damage wheel could be covered up.

Maybe a dragon with a magnet in the base so it would stick to the token, but could still be removed? Only issue would be the polarity when it was placed in the slider.

Errg!

The Spirit Ducky from the Golden Ticket run clearly dwarfs the Spirit Dragon Pet in coolness:

tokendb.com/token/spirit-pet-rubber-duckie/

I thought it would only take a few years for the Spirit Pet Dragon to be superseded how wrong was I? It only took a few months. The duck although harder to slide does much more damage than the Spirit Dragon. But more importantly, the duck is much cooler.

I would say the only saving throw available here is for anyone with the spirit pet dragon to also get a spirit slider dragon like the spirit ducky (although Kent's is cool below can't really be slid) ;-).

I enjoy the “text on token: made in China” on that tokendb entry.
