Tiaolang wrote: 1. Is this actually a Patron token or are we just using that because it takes an 8k to get the token?
2. Do I need to be a Patron during the year of the transmute to make the Proxy & Final token?
3. Do I need to be a Patron every year proceeding the transmute even if I bought the items second hand or was gifted them?

As things stand now--it's possible this could change--but if it does, we'll let you know:
  1. Technically speaking, the Path to Enlightenment fragments are the Patron tokens. The Mark of Enlightenment is a Transmute.
  2. To make a Mark of Enlightenment, you'll need to submit all four fragments and other stuff TBD in a transmute order. How you get the ingredients is not a concern of ours--unless you did something nefarious to acquire them.
  3. No
Have you looked it up in the TDb ?
Please post TDb corrections in this thread .

Yeah same here.

If anyone already bought one with intent to resell they can still do so before it’s transmuted.

So I have no issues with the plan.
Classes Played: Barbarian (65 times), Monk (56), Ranger (33), Rogue (25), Cleric (21), Fighter (13), Druid (12), Paladin (11), Dwarf Fighter (10), Bard (7), Elf Wizard (2), Wizard (2)

Unless the plan was to resell the completed item long after the transmute window closed.

If this had been announced a few years from now I would have a problem with it, but this gives people time to make a choice.

I just wish I knew more about the enlightenment power.

The announcement helps current players but what about newer players entering the game next year or the year after? Or after 2026?

Maybe there will a different soul forged token for players to seek after this one.

For the Tattoo slot:
1. When is that going to become active?
2. Will there be other tattoo tokens introduced? Or is the Mark of Enlightenment going to be it?
3. What kind of identity will tattoos have?

Until transmuting closes the fragments are just regular tokens which can be traded, or sold like any other item. They are no different then an Orb of Dragonkind. During that period this announcement can be used to guide a choice of a new player if they want to try to acquire the fragments. So it does help new players, next year, or the year after, etc until the end of transmuting, which I assume will occur sometime in 2026 or 2027.

After transmuting closes, they missed out on a unique token. It happens, but if this is successful and its not too painful to produce maybe TD will do something similar in the future and those future players can participate in that. Even if it does not function for them they can try to acquire one on the secondary market if they want it for collection reasons. I do not expect it to be that powerful of an ability, and it might not even be a unique power. It states it grants the enlightenment power, this reminds me of how Psychic Power's came out. This could very well end up being just one of several ways to gain this power.

Good points on the Fragments. As for the power level of the Mark, I thought it said Relic level, so all new players after the Mark is created will never have an opportunity for that power. Unless of course TPTB does another round of soulforged again. So that's doable, but new players would have to wait another four years or so.

True. But if the new soulforged ones have different powers then the original ones then new players wont be able to "catch up" in terms of Token power.

If it is a Relic level power then they shouldn't fall too far behind, given all the tokens available higher than Relic power. Given past history of power creep and token obsolescence, it might not be long before there is a more powerful token in this slot for new players to get.

In the past, each of the soulforged tokens were unique in that they had a special power or combination of powers unique to that individual token. My understanding is that there were approximately a dozen of them, and only one created in the last ten years. And there were created (as I understand it) as a special thank you to certain individuals.

Since these soulforged tokens will not have a special power or combination of powers unique to that token (at least as how I understand it -- they will have a unique mark but not unique power), I don't think making them soulforged adds anything. And it has the downside to the value down the road. Yes, you can trade/give/sell them before they are soulforged, but after that they will have no in-game value to others (and the collectible trade value won't be like the old soulforged tokens as there will be many of these -- and those who would collect at this level likely will have one or more already that they created themselves).

In sum, I like the idea of the token in general, and I like the concept of individual marks, but I don't like the soulforging idea. Unless, of course, we get to pick a power or powers for each individual token that will make them unique. But I'll save the Dreamcrusher the trouble and crush this one myself because I don't think TPTB want DMs to need to deal with dozens of (or a hundred?) unique tokens.

To clarify, even adding the name is fun, just not that the token is thereafter soulforged to the person named.

Good points. If this happens though you might have some folks dismayed that the 2K they spent on a personalized soulforged Token doesn't make sense to use in their builds. But such is life with the never ending power chase...
