TOPIC: The Problem with the Common Distribution...

Re: The Problem with the Common Distribution... 16 years 11 months ago #61

Whoops... Correction, 2 of Spades. Not a flush.

It was an almost worthless hand (High card Ace), but that exact hand was rarer than a Royal Flush.

Erg. Works better when you don't screw up the example. =|

Well yeah because you have 4 options of getting the royal flush. But as any good statistician would point out the odds of getting a better hand than ace high even before a draw is about 52%.

At the end of a round of Texas Hold 'em, Ace High is not that good. That's most of what I've played, and mostly what I was talking about.

You're right about the Royal Flush being four times as likely, since there are four ways to make one. Still, it's fun to see the incredulous looks on people's faces before that fact sets in.
You can win with 8 high if you can read your opponents.

You can win with diddly, if you can outbluff all your opponents. But if it gets down to the end, and everyone left shows their cards, an Ace High hand is not that good. Although, sure, an 8-high can win if you called the bluff of a 7-high.

Just to throw my two cents in on this, the average winning hand on a 9 person Texas Hold'em table is two pair. That is of all hands to go to show down. And since we are on this topic...you can do chip tricks with your treasure tokens quite nicely =)

Joe

I found a sure-fire way to beat the Roulette table. Works pretty well -- almost every time.

Wait until I place a bet, and then put your money somewhere else. :icon_tongue:

Haha! Thats about the only system that would work. =D

Out of my 30 bags (I am poor :) ) I recieved 5 +2 resistance cloaks. I am guessing it could have been worse. On the brighter side maybe they will be good traders? who knows :)

Added for consideration...

In one sealed bag of 10-10packs...I got 4 Rings of Fortitude...(Irony right Henwy!)

If someone ordered only 10 bags and got that bag...there is not much help leveling it out across multiple bags.

The bright side...maybe it is just a small problem with the factory bagging system and breaking up the bags and sorting for the commons will also fix this.

The real concern is for a party getting equipment for their run. Has someone analyzed the stats for say 8 bags; how likely is it that they will get a fair number of weapons and armor, and not 5 hammer/spikes and 4 mortar/pestles?

Brian
I'd have voice a little concern that the distribution impacts BULK SALES (fundrasing) and PARTY EQUIPPING equally (with at least the Party part being fixable by Player Coaches having a trade supply).

I appreciate what Jeff said it is no small feat - to repeat: they are considering going back to hand packing the bags...this sould fix both problems.
