TOPIC: E-bay Fraud

Re: E-bay Fraud 16 years 8 months ago #73

I've been looking into making my own poker chips which is essentially what these tokens appear to be. I think that, if you know precisely what is being used to produce the chips, it may be easy for someone to reproduce them. I'm not even sure what the make of the tokens are though, but they may be a polymer clay like Fimo with a metal insert...still, they seem to have even more polymer than that.

A lass I'm dating is actually very skilled in clayworking. I'll have to ask her opinion.

It's worth mentioning though that there must be a good way to detect counterfeiting if casinos use chips to represent hundreds or even tens of thousands of dollars per chip.

I think the secret to protecting against counterfeiting is the chips image, which is probably more challenging to reproduce.
Insolent fool, why are you not yet kneeling?!?!

Some high end casino chips have RF tags inserted in them.

I was given an answer to my question:

Question:

Who told you that True Dungeon was going to Europe? Can you discribe them?

Answer:

I am getting tired of all these questions about this token sale. I think it is more than self explanatory. If all you True Dungeon nuts want to continue asking me questions about things not pertaining to this sale I will not attend anymore.

I thought it was funny in a way. She must be getting alot of questions about it!

Just thought you all would like to see what was said and asked!!

I suppose what the person does not understand is that the comments made about TD going to Europe has something to do with this person's credibility. I mean, does this person follow every rumor they've ever heard without checking it out for themselves? That's not someone I'd want to follow into a dungeon, let alone purchase from. For me, it's about reliability and honesty. You shouldn't state something in an auction listing unless you're certain it's a given or make it extremely clear you're guessing at the information.

JKW

This person is trying to claim a Combo Token: Throwing Dagger is a purple Ultra Rare:

'True Dungeon Combo Item- Dagger of Throwing- Used by all classes except Cleric. Automatically returns. Limited to 2007 True Dungeon. A must have for collectors and players alike. And all TD fans know... It's purp and that is the ultimate goal.'

cgi.ebay.com/True-Dungeon-Combo-Item_W0QQitemZ270159749886QQihZ017QQcategoryZ44112QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Anyone want to call them on that?

It's not me, but I am color-blind and often see purple as blue and blue as purple. From the response from the seller, sounds like an honest mistake and possibly by a color-blind male.

Well, there were about 3000 of them given away, and I never saw one needed for access into the Tavern, so there are a LOT of them out there.

I did 6 hours of doorman duty. In total I collect about 75 tokens. And many of those the people purchased.

What do you mean, many of those the people purchased? You couldn't purchase the Guild of Ale Drinkers tokens could you? I thought you only got one free per dungeon run.

That's cool that people were using the tokens for entry. After each of my parties dungeon runs, we were sent directly into the Tavern without anyone collecting any tokens for entry, so I figured it was like that for everyone.

I think they were for sale at the ADMIN desk for admission into the tavern.

You must have had to have a Guild token to get in - so it makes sense that they were sold at ADMIN.

Yes, they were available at the admin desk for those who wanted to go into the tavern. Paid them the $3, were given the token, and you gave the token to the Doorman. You were also given one at the end of your run so you could later enjoy the tavern.
There was no longer all day access to the tavern. And you didn't get to go in the tavern before your run.

You exited the dungeon into the tavern, so you didn't have to use it then. But if you left and later wanted to return the token was for your tavern entry.

Thanks for the info, I hadn't realized that. I only went into the Tavern once when it wasn't after a Dungeon Run, and even then I had that Level 4 Admission policy working for me =)

Re: E-bay Fraud 16 years 8 months ago #84

Yes, 4th and higher XP players got free admission.
You had 2 ways to get the tokens, and there were 4 ways to gain admission to the tavern.
Via dungeon exit, token admission, 2 generic tickets for entrance, or being a 4th or higher Player.
Alot of people were not using their tokens, so between that and a box of tokens with those and the ring of the eye going missing, we we began to run short on the Guild of Ale Drinker tokens at the con.
