True enough! I hope that they retain value or atleast a close value there-in!
The great difference's in token values before and after the CON!

I sold the exact same 2 purples before Gen-con and now after. I love the drop in price of those 2 items. Before Gen-con they were sold for $132 for the +2 HGS and $125 for the mithral chainmail. Now that the items are almost over the price on them is a little over half that! I am not complaining in the least! I just think it is amazing that people will pay 2 times the amount before when it is closer to the ability to use it!

For all who are wondering this is exactly why I like E-Bay their is a stark difference in prices from day to day! I know that many of you on here don't like that tokens are sold on E-Bay, but if you look at it this way it confirms that the tokens have REAL value! (this is actually probably falling on deaf ears!) I suppose that over the next year I will see a huge flux in the market!

I also hope that my Ebay sales will help Doglas and/or others come up with a more accurate Real Value for the tokens in the token price guide!

Thanks for listening to my rant!

Well you would think they would be a tad more valuable before con when people can quickly turn around and use them...

I'd be surprised if they don't close in on $125-150 before they end.

Forsaken,
You and I have very opposite goals. I dearly want the tokens to have no cash value at all. I wish no one would ever bid at your (or anyone's) auctions. I did a lot of buying and selling in the early days of Magic:the Gathering. I made a very comfortable amount of profit in my selling. HOWEVER because magic cards were so easy to sell, they were also very worthwhile to steal. I was robbed twice with magic cards, the first time for $400 and the second time for over $1,200.

We have already had one case where someone had a collection of valuable tokens stolen. I want token trading to be fun, I dont want to have the level of paranoia that I had to do with magic cards. If tokens become very easy to sell, we are in serious danger of people stealing tokens to sell.

This year someone made a game of stealing the cheese from the bag check area. Next year we may have to deal the problem of some stealing a backpack with hundreds or thousands of dollars worth of token. I think that would make things a lot less fun for all of us.

George, thats life though, sadly. =| Part of the fun is the value and the value of the tokens adds an element to True Dungeon that people seem to like. So while there is the potential for stealing and dishonesty (including dishonest traders and counterfieting), I think its something that we are going to have to manage for the sake of the upside of having tokens with value.

I agree with Douglas - and I think one thing TD needs to keep in mind is - NO MANDETORY BAG CHECK.

People that want to carry a bag of tokens into the dungeon should be allowed to do so.

It might also not hurt to start posting friendly signs at the entrance/exit - to remind people to KEEP AN EYE ON YOUR STUFF! OR DID YOU REMEMBER YOUR TOKENS?

I know as a Player Coach I gave two reminders - one at the Muster Table - and one in the second training room - I am pretty sure I did not have one bag, or token left behind (well at least not a single token that did not hit the floor and go missing.)

G

Gary,
If someone said that their bag was full of tokens we let them take it in. I don't know that I want to see a party of 8 people with some of these huge backpacks going into the dungeon with them. It increases the likelyhood of damage to the sets and props.

Kim
