TOPIC: Distrubtion Method for Combo Items Discussion

I'm with the morning people myself.  8-10 every morning would be perfect, even for those of us with early morning runs.  I'd also like to see them done in the 1C, 3C, 2C, 4C order as suggested above, and for the same reasons.

Can I change my vote from 8-10am each day, but in the earlier nominated sequence of 1C, 3C, 2C, 4C

Speaking from Past experience Dave is usually busy thursday morning with all the last minute tech stuff. I don't know if Dave would be free at that time. Especially with whatever Jeff has up his sleeve for the GT's.<br /><br />That said,<br />Dave you have my help if you want to do a morning distribution before opening.<br />I am almost always ready to work at 7:30 am. And will be glad to help you however. And I can see if I can get another one of my staff who might be an early bird to help out as well. <br />

I also like the 8-10AM Thurs-Sat idea. Doesn't conflict with a lot of events and is before it gets too noisy and crowded. Even 7-9AM is ok.<br /><br />Larry

<br /><br />I'm sure a lot of us would be willing to help out if it's needed.  Even if it's just bringing coffee and donuts/muffins/whatever for Dave and whoever else is doing the trade-ins.  I know I would anyways.

Keep in mind that both Dave and Jeff get way way way too little sleep at gencon from working open to close every day (They have off time but neither seem capable of really being "off" at the con).  Don't try and press either of them into hours outside of what they normally do.  As it stands the both can hardly walk by the time of the riddle reveal

Also just because we aren't operational yet, doesn't mean people aren't working.<br />In the morning before opening is when equipment is checked to make sure its working, repairs are being made, last minute training sometimes or initial training sometimes if we have a last minute replacement.<br />Much goes on before opening.<br />I know Friday Morning Dave was getting the tavern wired for sound cause they couldn't get to it thursday because of TONS of technical problems in the dungeon.<br /><br />But Dave you know you have my help whenever with this and whatever I can do to help.

If we are going to do it in the morning, I would prefer to have two times for combo tokens, so that the other days would not be interrupted.

Um... relative newbie here, but... why is Dave the only one that can do this?  If it's something that he particularly enjoys doing, fine. <br /><br />

I would keep Gencon as the first place to obtain the tokens, but I would prefer to be able to just mail or drop off the combo stuff there and have it mailed to me.  I have a pretty busy Gencon schedule, and don't really want to give up a time slot(s) just to turn them in.  Many people try to cram as much in as possible and feel the same way.  Especially later in the con, as I don't want to make the choice between having a combo made and participating in one of many multi-round events where I get past the first round.

Oooh.  Now there's an idea.  Have a drop-off location.  That way you can count the turn-ins at leisure and send them out via mail after the con.  You can even require cash be put in the envelope for the cost of postage based on the number of tokens requested.  Just have a box by the entrance where there's a volunteer/staff member watching it all the time.  Maybe a stack of simple forms to be included in the bags giving name, email, and address, and tokens being traded in for.<br /><br />This way you can go through the turn-ins at your pace, order the exact amount needed/wanted, and send the tokens out later with a lot less stress.  If someone misses anything in the required turn-in, you can set it aside until everything is counted and fire off an email to them.  If they don't respond in 3 days, too bad, they lose.  If they respond, they can send in what they're missing.  In the meantime, you won't over or under order the tokens.<br /><br />Of course, this assumes that y'all are willing to get tokens for all those who want them, and we all know what happens when one assumes something.  =)

But then no one would have the tokens to use on their runs.<br />
