TOPIC: 2009 Token Suggestions GO HERE!!!

Re: 2009 Token Suggestions GO HERE!!! 15 years 7 months ago #85

Apologies to anyone if I've wound up repeating someone else's suggestions.

Amulet of Transformation (Druid only)- Each amulet enables a druid to transform into a specific animal: mammal, bird, reptile, amphibian, fish or insect.

Anklet of Walking_ Allows wearer to walk upon any fluid without touching it.

Armband of Healing (Cleric only)- Causes 3 cure spells per day cast by the cleric to automatically cure the maximum amount of damage.

Arrow of Ice- When fired they turn into 18 inch icicles that do an extra 1d6 to fire using or fire dwelling creatures.

Arrow of Multiplicity- For every 30 feet the arrow travels in flight another one appears along side of it. Each arrow receives an additional attack roll with no bonus.

Arrow of Returning- +1 to attack and damage. At the end of a round where the target of the arrow was missed, the arrow returns to the archer's quiver.

Kim
Ummm. Wouldn't this just, over time, predipose the treasure boxes to spitting out crap on average? If everyone started redrawing, wouldn't you just be screwing those without one?
If it is an ultra-rare item only a handful will ever really be in circulation, and a fair number of people will be loathe to trade it in given the odds that they will not be replacing it with another purple token.

===================================

I agree with Henwy that the 4 leaf clover should probably not be used for redraws from treasure boxes. The other problem I can see is the player pulls and pulls and pulls because they have a shwack load of clovers and are determined to get something cool.

If it is an ultra-rare how many will really be in circulation? Would it really that great of an item that the hardcore (should we now call them nightmare?) players will get multiples of them when purchasing tokens? I think that having the option of drawing two tokens and then returning one to the box while turning over your clover token to the DM makes it on par (or even slightly better) than the Horn of Plenty, thus if it is created it would warrant being a purple token.

Under the common weapons, I think caltrops would be a nice addition.

Kim

How about the following common items tokens for use in a campaign setting:
small sack
large sack
belt pouch (must have a belt)
leather belt
backpack
hard leather boots (+1 to AC)
bed roll
fur cap (+1 to AC vs cold based attacks)
fur lined gloves (+1 to AC vs cold based attacks)
oil lamp
flask of oil (enough to fill lamp for 1 run in the dungeon or if thrown at target and lit 4pts of fire damage)
quill pen
blank scroll (and have a text in a room that can be "copied" down if you have quill and ink - turn in the
blank and get special dungeon only scroll. Hard part: you must spend 3 rounds in copy mode w/o
combat or any other action)
blacksmith hammer (usable with anvil to repair a damaged item from another room or say the effects of a
rustmonster. Also usable as a weapon damage would be 2-2-3-4-5-5)
blacksmiths anvil
mining pick and/or shovel (as a weapon pick 1-2-3-4-5-6, shovel 1-2-3-3-4-5. Can also be used to dig up
an extra hidden treasure in a room from a cave in or an odd placed mound of junk on the floor, mine
outcropping of a mineral token, etc.)
medicine pouch or linen bandage (Consumable, restores 1 hp.)

Ok, I've been waiting for this to come up, almost as much as I've been waiting for the " I need ideas for Norse Tokens" one.

so In no particular order:

Head in a Jar (+1 to will saves)
Ash Spear
Hurley Stick ( club)
Yew Bow
Custom Sword ( could be +1 to either hit damage, or +1 ac decide when fight starts)
Spirit of the Fianna
Spirit of the Red Branch
Warriors Saga ( consum. that could duplicate a bard's song)
Balors Evil Eye ( cosum, fort save or die)
Fili Curse ( usable by Bard -1 to hit or something similar, maybe multiple versions)
Dagda's Club
Cloak of the Morrigan ( can negate one fatal attack in Battle Consum / single use/dungeon)
shillelagh
short spear / half spear ( usable by Rouge)
Jar of Mead
Bull of Cooley
Rune Wand
Rowan Circle
Nuada's silver Arm ( can be used to Permenantly buff 1 weapon)
The Salmon of knowledge ( can be a free hint, or a Perm + to wisdom / int depending on rarity)
Gae Bulg ( Cuchulain's spear generally thought to be the end all- be all of spears)

Geasa ( the oppurtunity to sacrifice one thing in exchange for another.. It'd be difficult, but say if a Fighter said they'd only use 1 kind of weapon, for ever, then they might get a bonus to an attribute permenantly of a perm +X to hit / Damage etc)

other Useful Tokens:
Bedroll
Ash leaves ( consum, +1 to hit Divine spells)
Oak Leaves ( Consum +1 to Damage Divine spells)
Rowan Leaves ( +1 to Healing spells)
Torc of the Sagas ( bard's song bonus without a bard)
Thumb Ring (Xgp)
Worthy Tale (Xgp)
Stag's Hide (Xgp)
Druid's blessing
Gaels Tollerance ( allows use of Meads, stouts etc without suffering the penalties)

Four Leaf Clover - Allows you to redraw a token from a treasure box. So if you get something you don't like, use it to draw again and keep one. Either a rare/UR that persists (once/room) or a C/UC that is used up?

I would limit it to one per room as suggested. But I really like the idea of being able to redraw a treasure pull.

I really like the Medallion of Stewardship. The only question I have is what basis would you use to decide who got to use it if more than one person in the party showed with one? I do think it's a cool idea.

Kim

Re: 2009 Token Suggestions GO HERE!!! 15 years 7 months ago #96

My only question is about the potential stackable nature of some of the character classes. For instance, if someone was using the Medallion of Stewardship and duplicated the Bard class, would the Bard Song ability for the two bards stack? Also... if you had two Rogues would they both have a crack at the skill test? How would you decide which one got the treasures from the chest?

While I think the Medallion is a good idea, it's got the potential to be a bit of a headache in some situations.

-Toby
