Simple. Takes a turn to swap any equip if you're already in combat. Otherwise, there is no limit.

I think the Small Darkwood Shield should be usable by Rogues and here is why.<br /><br />(Warning 3.5 Rules crunchy stuff)<br /><br />#1 Rogues are not Proficient with any shields (PHB pg 50)<br />#2 lack of proficiency in a shield means you take shields armor check penalty to attack rolls and all skill checks that involve moving. (Shield Proficiency PHB pg 100)<br />#3 Shield, light, wooden: +1 AC, -1 Armor check penalty, Arcane Spell Failure chance 5% (PHB pg 123)<br />#4 Darkwood (DMG pg 283): Any item made of Darkwood is considered a masterwork item. The AC Penalty of Darkwood is lessened by 2 compared to an ordinary shield of its type.<br /><br />So with that said: It would be +1AC, 0 Armor check penalty, Arcane Spell failure chance of 5%.  Meaning a Rogue would not suffer any penalties using a darkwood light shield. <br /><br />So, I am asking either the rogue be added to the common shield class list or it be returned to the state of being just plain wood.

<br />That seems more reasonable.  It is good to offset the bonus abilities by making the basic abilities a bit lower, so that the new tokens aren't clearly better than the old ones, it's more of a case of choosing which version you prefer.  It seemed like in a lot of cases, the new tokens took an existing token and then added to it - making the old token clearly inferior and obsolete.  <br />

<br /><br />If thats the case we should all be screaming about how broken the new Torc of Natural Amor is AC +2 . OH MY GOODNESS.  Its AC+2 vs. +1 of the original RARE amulet of Natural Armor, and it works for ALL combats.  OH ME, OH MY!!! POWER CREEP!!!  POWER CREEP!!!!<br />If you want to talk about obsolescence, then look at that.  The slight increase +1 of AC for ONE kind of opponent should not push an Uncommon to a Rare, especially when someone could be carrying multiple years of shields around and wasting a turn to switch out.<br /><br />I call heresy!  If we have to complain about creep at all, then complain about creep that is always on and benefits all players, not just a subset of large shield users.  Look at the Torc and complain about that!  Which oddly enough few have raised this point because I think we all want it.<br />But if we are going to pick on the shield we need to also pick on the torc.<br /><br />

<br />You are right (too early in the AM and no breakfast yet), but I have not seen a proposed change like we have seen for the FILS.<br />
