What about giving the extras to the coaches to help equip the more needy parties? An extra Red to someone who isn't token-rich might be a nice way to increase interest.

Is there anyone else out there that feels like donating money to TD, but doesn't feel like buying large amounts of tokens? I'm at a point in my life where I don't collect anything - I'm trying to get rid of stuff, and although I'm willing to spend $250, I'm not willing to deal with 300 tokens. It is actually the accumulation of stuff that keeps me from buying tokens. Would it be possible to buy the tokens, sort out what I want, and then return the rest to TD? I feel like offering the rest up for free my not be in TD's interest since that would mean the person I gave them to might not buy tokens. Perhaps bring them to TR and put them in a (largish?) give a token, take a token box? How much room do 300 tokens take up? Do any of the token collectors have a suggestion?

Note, don't tell my children I posted this - the thought of me giving a bunch of tokens away would probably freak them out.

Most of the token buyers are buying for PYP. If you buy $250 worth of tokens and keep your PYP and maybe a few rares and give away the rest, I'm not sure you'd be hurting token sales.

You could also be the most popular person in the building if you stand by the prep room and generously hand a few out to people starting with their bag of ten tokens. I bet you'd at least get a bottle of pop in return.

If you wanted to just have the (for instance) Rares and the PURP and not deal with all the uncommons and commons, I'll bet TD would be willing to do that - it would save them shipping costs, and they might have something else they could do with the commons/uncommons. I'm also sure that TD would be fine with you returning all the tokens you didn't want - you could even get some Trade tokens for some of them I'm sure.

Arp, don't have time to find the old postings on this but people have gotten into trouble for that due to the unrealistic customer expectations created. Players going through the dungeon don't know whether the extra treasures are supplied by TD or by other players. If some players get extra treasures while other do not, you create uneven customer experiences and lots of complaints.

Thanks for letting me know about that. I guess there had to be something wrong with the suggestion if it was that obvious, and no one had posted it before the noob did! :merror:

It is not a bad idea in principle, but as was mentioned, groups compare notes of their experiences. This means if one group followed a generous token collector like Roarry, and found a few extra tokens, the next one however might feel slighted if they did not make out with as much loot. Because of that, we do not encourage it.

So it kind of comes down to the fact that probably a good portion of the players that go through would not care one way or the other if they did not find an extra token or two. But a rare few do and choose to raise the issue, so we have to try and keep the playing field balanced.

Dave

Might be good to hand over to Jeff or Dave to have them add to the coaches inventory...there could be some things that should not go into that lot for the same reasons as what Dave mentioned about the dungeon.

Having only a handful of REDS to pass out is not better than 0...however if you add things that were already in the lot - that helps keep supply up and it will get used.

I'll be buying less. The three URs I really wanted all got changed into uselessness.

Sadly, it will be hard to justify spending as much as I spent on the '08 tokens.

And, as of right now, it would be difficult to predict what I would be able to spend over the next 4-5 months. If things go really well, I'll have more to spend. If things stay the way they are now, then not as much. At the very least, I'll be trying for 2 tickets to the token-buyers dinner. Beyond that, things are currently iffy.

I was looking at the Double-Edged Sword for my fighter, 2x Cestus' for a monk, and then the Charm of Luck.

I was also considering the cestuses (cesti?) for my monk, but now I can use those two purple choices for some other goodies.
I missed where Smak said he wanted to double his order. That's a lot of tokens. I can't imagine how much time it would take to sort that.

Kim

i missed it too. was i drinking by any chance? had a recently suffered from head trauma? i wouldn't want to even begin to try and sort that many.

Hm. I guess I have to go read the posts again. I could have sworn that is what I read. Could just be my mind playing tricks on me though, eh?

I am very worried about the economy. Sales at our toy store are down about 30%.

Given the stories about the economy, I think people may get concerned about keeping their jobs. Anyone who works for an American auto company or their suppliers is likely to either lose their job or take a huge cut in pay in the next month or so. (That is a LOT of people).

I am hoping to buy about half the tokens I did last year but it is getting harder to justify that level of spending when we are having other serious cutbacks at home.

George

Hey Jeff - would there be anything wrong with selling 2009 tokens into 2010 - if there are any left?

I mean, I don't know all the details of how many you must buy - and for sure we don't know what Token Fans will spend...but hey, if there are any left...they could still be sold even after the next set comes out...right?

I mean this does not impact rarity, and could be a nice thing for new players who want what they may have just missed out on.
