In 2013 our plans call for us to add an additional adventure to the event. There will be two consecutive adventure modules, and each module will have two variations of either a combat or puzzle orientation. The first module called “Lycans Afoot” tasks the party to travel through a dark forest in search of a tower, while the second module called “Golembane” challenges the party to reach the top of tower.

TOPIC: Feedback Needed on Relic/Legend Event Idea

Re: Feedback Needed on Relic/Legend Event Idea 10 years 8 months ago #205

I don't think it has to be totally balanced - a $5 vs $2 token is no big desk. But making a $50 token in a limited-edition version - there could be fist-fights in the coaching room :)

But I agree, it would cause less trouble if only the base tokens are reprinted, not combo/volunteer/completion/TrueCraft ones. Even URs would be better, as long as every class got one. But no, I don't think that's a good idea either.

Maybe take this out and substitute Gauntlets of Ogre Strength? Same effect, but it duplicates a Rare, not a special token.

I originally had the Gauntlets in this slot, but moved them to the general section so more people could use them. I was looking for a strength item here and if there is something else that could be put here please make a suggestion.

Belt of Ogre Power or are you wanting to stay out of the belt because of the relic?

That is why I said I would want to play Barbarian. Honestly though I don't think combo's, transmutes, or completion tokens should be included. Which would remove: Necklace of the Oak, Lenses of Accuracy, Cadaver Charm, Horn of Blasting, and Boots of Sure Footing.

Torc of Natural Armor is just a regular rare but usually fetches more than a regular rare. Not saying it shouldn't be included but just mentioning it as something to consider.

I agree with this completely. The White backed tokens should be limited to Rares, Uncommons, and Commons from the basic sets.

Agreed. While I like the idea of being able to get those cool tokens, if there isn't one for each class of similar value, this would potentiate conflicts in choosing classes and arguing at the coach's table. If you want a neck slot item for AC, it should be amulet of armor +1, not the torc.

I also think the faceted amber ioun stone should be off the list, unless it gets reprinted in 2014, since it is currently selling on ebay for more than necklace of the oak.

erm, why a pool of 16 items when there are 10 players?

I would rather see each character get a weapon, armor, and support item, and not have potential for fighting at the table.

If the paladin has a defender helm, why not a defender plate? I think this would unbalance the paladin's items, though, so I would suggest Plate and tower shield.

MasterED wrote: Although I do not collect the Platinum/Onyx tokens I could see saying they could be used in the AGC event along with relics/legendaries.

  1. This would raise the value of these rarer collectibles
  2. Allow players to still keep their base character after they found the limited copies of their existing equipment
  3. Reward large previous token and new token buyers because they could equip characters and trade their Platinum/Onyx instead of transmuting them.

I like this idea for creating flexibility for what you can bring in. :)
However, I would specify that the onyx have to be R, U, C (ie, no URs)
I would still suggest some special tokens for each character class as a perk for the AGC event.

If you want it to have a retro feel why not make them wooden tokens?

My suggestions would be:

Barbarian (all about strength):
+1 Maul: 2H, D8 (2,3,3,4,6,9,11,11), Barb, F, P
Gauntlets of Ogre Power
Ram Totem Armor (+4 AC, immune to Stun)

Bard (all about knowledge and support):
+1 Elven Rapier
Lyre of Echoes
Footman Chainmail

Cleric (all about piety):
+1 Silver Mace
Holy Symbol of Pelor: +2 damage while turning, C
Half Plate of Life (+7 AC, +2 max HP...chose this more for the name :) )

Druid (all about nature):
+1 Silver Scimitar
Druid’s Sacred Vestments: +2 to healing spell if correct leaf chosen, D
Greater Mistletoe: +1 damage to offensive spells, D
Owl Totem Armor (+3AC, +1 will saves)
I went with an extra common here for the armor, since the mistletoe and sacred vestments reflect the druid’s ability to heal and do damage

Dwarf Fighter (all about the steel):
+1 Dwarven Battle Axe: 1H, D8 (2,4,5,5,7,8,8,9),+3 damage to Giants, Barb, F, P, Rang
+1 Dwarven Throwing Hammer
Dwarven Half Plate: +7 AC, +2 Fort saves, C, F, P

Human Fighter (all about the steel):
+1 Silver Bastard Sword: 1H, D10 (3,3,4,5,6,7,7,7,10,11), Barb, F
+1 Light Trident
Fey Plate Armor: +7 AC, +2 Reflex saves, C, F, P

Monk (all about the martial arts)
+1 Bracer of the Dragonfist: 1H, D6 (2,3,5,5,7,7), In place of open hand attack, M
Bracer of the Smiting: 1H, D6 (1,2,4,4,6,6), critical on 19-20, In place of open hand attack, M
Two +1 Shuriken
Yes, that’s 4 tokens that are all rare. On the other hand, the monk has two for his pucks for ranged and melee, so he gets to do what monks do, and doesn’t get armor or a non-weapon. With this set-up, he also doesn't have relic or legendary mithral bracers.

Ranger (all about specialties):
Mighty Sling (I’d prefer to see a 2014 Mighty Longbow printed for the Ranger, though)
This could be replaced with a +1 Darkwood Longbow if people don’t like the above idea
+1 long sword
+1 short sword
Fox Totem Armor (+2AC, +2 reflex saves), 4th item is a common armor, since, IMHO, a ranger should have a ranged weapon, and 2 melee weapons

Rogue (all about sneakiness):
+1 Fey Blade: 1H, D6 (2,3,4,5,6,7), Barb, Bard, F, P, Rang, Rogue
Boots of Elvenkind: Allows sneak attack on 1st round of combat
Masterwork Thieves Tools
Elven Shortbow vs Fox Totem armor (+2 AC, +2 Reflex saves)(both commons)

Paladin (all about defense)
+1 Elven Long Sword
Tower Shield (+3 AC)
Plate Armor: +8 AC, C, F, P

Elf Wizard (all about the magic)
Robe of the Mage: +2AC, W
Boots of Free Action
Wand of Melf’s Acid Arrow: 8 points of Acid damage if AC15 is hir on combat board, 5 charges, W

Human Wizard (all about the magic)
Mage Robe of the Vale: +2AC, W
Hat of Escape
Wand of Frost: 7 points of cold damage, no save, 1/combat, 4 charges, W

Thoughts?

If you want to do something as a surprise White backed token for each person, to equip for the run, I like that idea, but please make it the same token for each person, and NOT previous combo or completion or other previous special tokens, since that takes away from those tokens, IMHO.

Just as a spit ball idea what about something like Rare/uncommon or lower onyx tokens rather then white backs. It would open things up a little more but it would save some printing costs and make use of an existing perk. (Note: I have no idea if this idea is any good or not, haven't though it through all the way yet)
