The irritating thing is you can still see rooms available on expedia, just at very high prices.

The block needs to be bigger

LOL yeah, GenCon really needs to rework the blocks with these hotels. They need to push, when you have 20k more people that are brining money into the area, the hotels need to accomidate more in the blocks.

I think they should do it like the Wish List, you pick up to ten sets of hotel and date range in advance, and then just submit it when the registration opens.

I also wouldn't mind if 4-day attendees and repeat attendees got some sort of preference.

They definitely need a cart system. I finally got through after 20 minutes, found a slot but by the time the personal info page loaded the rooms were gone.

I tried the Wait List last year and got on relatively early. I never heard anything from them so I contacted them two or three times during the months. Every time I called, they said I was still on the list but they were having much less movement on the list than in previous years.

With the Gen Con announcement today that badge purchases in the first 4 days increased by over 200% of last years first week sales AND the housing block sold out in just a few hours - I would not expect any miracles from the Wait List this year.

Well, for the first time in many years of attending GenCon I completely missed registration. Fortunately, I'd booked a room at the Embassy Suites last summer for this year, but still--no idea how I spaced out on it.

Gencon made a post about it, should be in your emails now, but it looks like attendance is up big time

I responded to that email. I told them I had several instances of hotels having no Fridays. To my surprise I got a response which reiterated no significant difference between Friday and Saturday sales. However the concern was acknowledged and he stated they were looking into why the no Friday phenomena occurred.

If they had included that last bit in their first communication it would have been much better received.

"I can definitely appreciate the frustration from this entire experience but I can promise you that there was no massive run on Friday only rooms, I have personally seen the sales data and they sold equally to that of Saturday rooms.

I have also heard multiple reports of the system not showing any Friday rooms available and it is something we are investigating it but if it was doing that it wasn’t the result of Friday rooms outpacing the other nights in sales and may have been the result of something else entirely, it’s just too early to know we are definitely looking into it though."

I had an issue with hotels listing all the nights that I wanted but not having the nights all in the same types of rooms.

I would click on a hotel that said it had 4 consecutive nights but there was not a single type of room with 4 consecutive nights. I could cover all the nights if I changed rooms but who wants to do that?

About that time the system crashed out and when I hit the back button it took me all the way to the code input screen. After I re-entered my code the site worked well. I also was able to book 4 consecutive nights in the same room at a hotel that previously had the above problem.

Clearly something was screwed up.
