Maybe the new guaranteed 3 treasure tokens, with a bonus of 1 or 2 for actually solving puzzles/winning combats?

That would create the exact same problem

I like the 3 token change, It solves:
  • People feeling short changed by a creative puzzle bypass not rewarding token.
  • Losing tokens to a seemingly too powerful monster effect.
  • New players having a blank treasure column.

The only drawback I see is losing the "woot" got a treasure feeling, I can live with that to alleviate the above.

DM training videos for each room will be a big help for consistency.

They can still whine about push damage.

It's still a game. You win by surviving. Completing rooms successfully still helps in that goal (you take less push damage).

Disbeeleaf wrote: It seems a little out of focus to assume that people were buying expensive tokens to ensure that they got all of the treasure stamps.

I don't believe that the power level of a player's tokens had any direct effect on the number of treasure stamps they ultimately acquire.

The number of treasure stamps available was the same regardless of the dungeon difficulty level. That point alone disconnects the token power levels from the treasure stamp acquisition process.

Agreed. Treasure stamps were never a factor in buying tokens for me. I wanted to do higher difficulties for the challenge and XP. If I only wanted max treasure, I would've only done normal (easier to get the stamps), and only bought treasure-enhancing tokens.

If the something nobody else got was a guarantee, then I agree. But if his party got all three stamps, the net result remains unchanged.

"ensures the owner is allotted treasure as if his party earned at least three treasure stamps per adventure." <- is a "power". No one else had that "power" in pre-2016 (excluding prestige Bard). For 2016 now everyone has that "power". If only one person has something and suddenly everyone does it lowers the value. If you were the only one with a Porsche 918 Spyder and suddenly everyone had one and you tried to sell yours you wouldn't get very much - hence the value of your Porsche greatly decreased.

I agree the Net difference for him regarding treasure is the same - he got 3 last year and gets 3 next year. The Value of his artifact is lower though.

net yes..but last year 2014..the HoP gave extra per treasure stamp...not the +6 it is now...so the changing of the HoP to +6 treasure token did hurt the Artifact(the power of it)

I don't understand how it hurts. neither change adversely affects the amount of treasure you get from your artifact .
  • 2014: Your treasure was allocated as if you got three stamps and therefore got a total of 9 chips from a HoP. Other bonuses worked normally.
  • 2015: Your treasure was allocated as if you got three stamps and therefore got a total of 9 chips from a HoP (or the HoP portion of a CoA). Other bonuses worked normally.
  • 2016: Your treasure will be allocated as if you got three stamps and therefore you'll get a total of 9 chips from a HoP. Other bonuses will work normally.

I think Laz means that before his artifact guaranteed him stamps "ensures the owner is allotted treasure as if his party earned at least three treasure stamps per adventure." There was a cost in the creation of this ability and now that ability does nothing.

yep..now everyone automatically gets it..that effect was wasted on my artifact now

How so? I didn't buy tokens to get 3 extra treasure stamps. I bought tokens to conquer the dungeon. That hasn't changed. If people were buying tokens just to get the 3 extra stamps I don't think they were doing it right. Seriously you can could get 3 pulls a lot cheaper than the tokens that aided in getting them.

The choice of difficulty has always been I choice thing, I don't see it affected by 3 treasure pulls.

I am not saying I am a fan of this change, just that I don't think it is the end of the world.

EDIT: Let me put it another way. Is this going to change the difficulty you play or tokens you purchase? I can only speak for me that it is not.

it does effect the amount of tokens/money I put into the artifact for a now wasted power

Although, it still grants +10 token draws, a bonus slot, and automatic success as a rogue. Which is still incredibly powerful. :)
