I never realized there were that many of each. Sounds like your quest is a little easier.

Kim

Why not just use your wish ring and wish for one? You must have at least a few wish rings by now.

The value of an artisan is functionally _0_, other than the rarity of it. It serves no purpose after all. Hell, if only you knew who had it, they'd probably trade it to you anyway.

In my opinion, and I'm hardly the final arbiter, it seems that that would be a fine wish-level effect. Then poof, off to that wood-burning laser company and you get your artisan.

I think the value of the Artisan tokens is pretty high, just because of their rarity, and "cool" factor. I'm always on the lookout for them too, and have only seen a few for trade/sale.

I don't think that Jeff would go back to print on any Artisan tokens even if you wished for one - that would undercut the collectibility of tokens in general if he were to go back and reprint tokens like that. I'd hope that even with a Wish Ring, Jeff wouldn't break up his Artisan set. I wouldn't put it past him to auction off the Artisan set one of these days - if he was willing to auction the complete 2004 set, he'll auction anything =)

We could take a poll on it but given a choice between an artisan token and a UR pick from this year, I'm willing to wager at least 80% would go for the latter. If we opened it up to the general TD population, I'm sure it'd come close to 99%.

As for not reprinting, Jeff's added more of everything back into the mix, even HoPs since they were supposed to be discontinued. At least with artisans, it doesn't affect game balance. A wish sounds plenty.

i would not wish to see any token reprinted. i would also not wish for the artisan tokens either. half the fun is the quest to aquire them...the searching and haggling.

I agree that it is a very small subset of token collectors that would place a high value on artisan tokens (just as it's a small group that want wooden tokens at all, nearly everyone seems to want only Chip version tokens). But, there would be competition for artisan tokens from that group. I don't think they are as valuable as Ultra-Rare tokens, but I could see Artisan tokens going for up to $50 or so, and certainly more if two or more collectors really wanted that token.

In fact, I'd love to see True Dungeon do another set of Artisan Tokens in wooden form and auction them off. It would be a great treat for the old-time token collectors, I know I'd try to bid on one or more of them. Or Jeff could do maybe 60 Chip Artisan Token redemption tokens randomly distributed in the token run and/or the treasure boxes, that could be turned in for a new wooden Artisan Token (4 each of 15 Artisan Tokens would be 60 redemption tokens).

On reprinting, I have no problem with tokens from past token sets being reprinted in new token sets (like the Ring of Fire Resistance being reprinted this year, or the Dragonscale Shield being reprinted in Chip form), but I'd never want to see any token reprinted in an identical form as it was originally - I think all the token printings should be limited runs (except for listed exceptions like the reserve tokens and trade item tokens).

thank you mike for making it more clear about reprints. i believe that tokens that are reintroduced should be specific to the same year as the reintroduction, not the year of the original printing. this would keep the collecting aspect clean.

as for folks collecting the 2006 artisan woodies, besides my self, who else is trying for a complete set? i know of a few people that look for them, but they usually trade or try to trade them to me later. which is good if they improve their stock and everyone is happy.

I have no desire to get a complete set of Artisans (well - I may have the desire, but recognize that it isn't realistically possible). I'd love to get my hands on some more - but all the ones I get I end up trading away (mostly to you, Jeff). So - I don't have any now, but I'm definitely on the lookout to add one or two to my collection , just as I'm always looking for any of the wooden tokens that I'm missing. Of course, if I managed to get any of the ones you're missing, I'm sure we'd work out some sort of trade so that you got it and got closer to your goal of a complete set.

It would be really neat if Jeff reprinted the Artisan Tokens in Chip form (or did 16 new Chip Artisans). I could see him putting maybe 20 or 30 of each into the treasure boxes - either all in one year or maybe 4 per year for four years. It would be VERY cool to get one of them as treasure, and with 20-30 of them in existence, it would still be a real challenge to put together a complete set, but it would be doable. In fact, I'd love for 4-5 new Chip Artisan tokens to be in the treasure boxes each year like that, it would really add spice to the treasure boxes, and wouldn't affect the game balance at all since they have no game effect. It would be fun after each year's Dungeon to get on the forums and try to make trades for all four offered that year.
I don't know who won each of those. I know there was some kid who got one of the artisan tokens for next to nothing. Did Bob Stone wind up with the Wolf ring?

Kim

Bob got the one from the auction and one from a dungeon run which I was luck to be on with him...I traded him at least one PURP and 5-8 REDS if memory serves for it...

I chucked mine the first chance I had. I don't even remember who I traded it to now or for what.

i remember bob getting them. it was really cool to see him end up with 2 of the same one. i've seen several over the years, but most were tokens that i already had. there are still 7 of the 18 that i don't have.

gary, would you part with any of yours? =D
