I’m curious if someone came up with a creative use of the Mithral coin nobody else has causing the price to go this high. I noticed tokendb had a few more exclusions added (kudos to whomever munchkin’d exchanging one for a golden ticket btw.)

I don't know if anyone ever exchanged one for a GT. I doubt it. The tokendb has been updated a few times since the Coin was released. I'm guessing Horn of Plenty or Rod Segment 1 or 2 would be the highest value Tokens to trade it in for.

A lot of them went for rod segs (2 mainly) as I recall.

I dont think it's so much an issue of someone having thought up a new use (the coin was strongly restricted to "normal" stuff) as it's an issue of someone wanting the coin itself for their collection.
