Looks like this onyx auction finally made it into the red zone today! Congrats…20 yards to go!

OH BOY, THIS IS PRETTY COOL!

As our auction chugs along, it seems to have caught the gaze of bidders and TD powers-that-be alike - so much so that we continue to receive bids... and we even got a new item:

A True Dungeon acorn prop! This acorn was used to cast the acorns for Felurian’s Feast room 1, and may have been used as the photo reference for the frostseed token art (history is murky on this one, but TD believes it to be true). Seen in the photo (attached) is the prop itself, held by a dungeon denizen who shall remain nameless.

ALSO!

If Fistandantilus (aka: me) is defeated (aka: all my bids are exceeded), I'll add something more to the auction. Might be token. Might be a bag of acorns boiled in garlic and onion paste. Whatever it is, it'll be nerdy.

Big, BIG updates today. I caught a couple errors in the sheet and one of the bidders caught a small bit, too (thankfully impacting only their bids). Easy resolutions, and almost entirely behind the scenes. Still - ack!

Fistandantilus is challenged - all of his (my) bids are now matched by you lot! He's SO CLOSE to being defeated!

96.69% as I write this. Honestly I wasn't sure if we'd get this far, and now... well, the end is TOTALLY in sight!

Fistandantilus (me) was handily defeated by the combined might of Kaz the Minotaur, Sturm Brightblade, Tanis Half-Elven, and Caramon Majere earlier today. As promised, I will be adding something to the auction... so here we go:

Everyone that has placed a bid, winning or not, prior to this message being posted will be receiving a collection of D&D PDFs that I've written once the auction funds and closes. These will be distributed by dmsguild, so I will not need any contact information. To be clear: this isn't a "please buy my stuff"; it's very much a "hey, thanks for participating and I hope you also like other nerdy things in addition to True Dungeon because I can't afford to give away oodles of tokens like I can with PDFs of work I've previously completed".

ALSO!

Anyone that has placed a bid in this auction but ends up being entirely shut out (aka: "no winning bids when the auction funds and closes") will be entered into a randomized drawing. The prize for this drawing includes tokens and some other gaming goodies. Are they valuable? I can't promise that. Are they goofy? Probably. Are they usable? Sure, if you try hard enough. If you're coming to Gamehole Con this fall, I may be able to do something else instead of a care package... I'm guesting there and there are shenanigans to be had. (aside: I'll ask for a community volunteer to help me randomly determine the recipient so that it is indeed entirely randomized)

If you want to have a chance to be added to this drawing and you have not yet placed a bid in this auction, here's how you can do it:

• send me a forum DM with your chosen bid; this bid must exceed the current bid for an item in the auction - as in, you have to place a bid that raises the current auction price
• someone else needs to outbid you or "Buy It Out!"
• NOTE: this must take place before the auction closes, which will almost certainly be sooooooon as we're under $250 from the end!!

So, yeah, it's like a second-chance drawing for those that are helping to get the auction across the finish line.

All, this has been a lot of fun to run. As a giant nerd I got to flex some narrative muscles along with working some spreadsheet sorcery, and it's led to a lot of great messages with TD community members both here in the forums and on Discord.

I'll be sending invoices later tonight (Feb 6) to the winners, and will set out to tackle the second-round drawing stuff tomorrow through this weekend I think.

WINNERS: once you receive your invoice, please endeavor to submit payment by Monday, Feb 10 @ 10am EST. Do not submit any payments until you receive an invoice, which will be delivered via the True Dungeon forums.

All of this said... did you like this "gambler's" / "buy it out!" format? I thought it was kind of neat, but I'm open to feedback and would like to improve the process. Odds are I'll do this again later in the year, and almost certainly again around the pre-order window for next year's stuff.

Alan, I did like the buyout option you introduced, I might incorporate that into my next auction.

I want to give Alan a HUGE SHOUT OUT for running this successful auction. I can’t recall another auction that included all of the pieces (i.e. golden ticket, random URs, you name it) — this did that AND added some cool stuff. I loved that this was an ONYX auction — let’s face it, Trent’s is the gold standard for gold-backed auctions. Also, I really like the “Buy it Out” angle. Finally, Alan was a pleasure to deal with offline during the bidding.

What a huge accomplishment and great community service. Alan, WAY TO GO!

The 8k got paused in Carbondale for several days and has just this morning escaped St. Louis. With Monday being President's Day I am not expecting to receive this until Tuesday, Feb 18 now.
